I dont want to sound tough on the genuinely disabled, those on a low income or pensioners but what about people who work their bollox off and do not receive benefit - dont we get any freebies from the government? :rolleyes:0

No offense was intended to disabled people Msaic as my post said but why not freebies for everyone? If the government is serious about saving energy it would be the right step - plus they are very expensive.
Again apologies.0 -
i don't think bully said anything offensive. i know plenty of people on benefits that deserve them because they are genuinely unable to work but i also know of plenty who most definitely DON'T deserve it at all and yet my parents have to work to fund their lazy lifestyle.:heart2:

Thanks, I am quite resentful of the government at the moment and their 'initiatives' - I paid nearly £600 in tax last month. I was gutted.:mad:0 -

here here, I agree with you.
Seems like we are the ones being kicked in the teeth.
Im sorry, feeling peeved tonight, having to pay for my 12 year old daughter to see a consultant!!!!!!!!!! Both me and my husband work and have always paid our taxes, and we seem to be the ones being kicked into touch!!!! :mad:0 -

Don't worry, forget about it. :-) I had an emotional reaction as I recently read on this site some guy going on about the similar subject ..although rather more to the extreme (forget what thread but some dla (disability) thread I think) and it reminded me of that. I managed to hold my tongue then though.
I understand you are miffed and didn't mean any harm really and we've all got to rant about things or we'd go crazy, although maybe a freebie thread (as Martin MSE has pointed out elsewhere) for those on benefits isn't the place to talk about tax paying.. as some would give anything to be a tax payer and live a 'normal' life.
You're not the only one who is annoyed with the government as other posts show. I am too and think things are hard for a lot of peeps at the moment for loads of reasons, (nhs/government policies/the 'new poor' and the rich/poor gap that is widening/injustices by employers/high house prices & young people not being able to get on the house ladder like they used to & people losing their homes to the banks!etc.etc!) Also the council seems to turn a blind eye to the more 'vulnerable'. Some I know are very ill & threatened with homelessness at the mo. But I guess this isn't the right thread for all that!
You are right about the bulbs expense but it's the same for cars not going green earlier isn't it? Isn't it true that we could have been in 'hydrogen run cars' which don't rust etc ages ago but its all down to people making money at the expense of the planet. But sadly those in power do walk over people too just for money's sake.
It could be worse though we could be sniffing glue like the kids in Romania who live/sleep near the hot water pipes under the streets.
We are rich compared to a lot of people.:www:If you've got time, please sign the government petition online that 'ME is Real'HALIFAX Statements request letter sent 30 March. Statements received 05 June 1st Letter sent 03 July 07 2nd Letter(threaten court action)sent 17th July 07
