Or the JSA you tried claiming for, despite your university confirming you were on a full-time course...

I think your flatmate needs to get that credit-card cancelled by the issuer without delay. Just say it's been lost or stolen and call them right now.
Disagree. Flatmate needs to go to CC company with a written complaint about unauthorised deductions, a request for a refund and an instruction not to pay LL any further sums - and to clarify that CPA [continuous payment authority] has never been given.

To cancel the card, you have to make out the card has been lost or stolen - which devalues any complaint about the LL and brushes his handling of CC under the carpet.

I'm surprised a landlord is in the position to make any deductions on a credit card, especially when the person is not present. Most private individuals cannot make this type of transaction as it usually requires a merchant account. I'm not aware of many landlords that have the capacity or inclination to use credit or debit cards as a form of payment - it's more typical a feature of businesses, such as letting agents. It's usually cheque, cash, BACs, standing order or similar for transactions between tenants and landlords.

Of course, the OP is a fantasist or troll, anyway.

... And for the record having a 40 something abusive, loud scots man shout at an 18 year old girl living on her own for the first time in a city would be considered harrassment !!!!!!!
You are both adults. What he is doing is harrassment. But you diminish your complaint by comparing your relative ages, your genders and the extent of your life experience. You can make enough of the harrassment without the crocodile tears.

You've missed the earlier posts where it was discovered that several years ago, the OP started threads about their problems living in private accommodation and describing themselves then as a mature student.

The chances of them being an 18 year old girl living for the first time in private accommodation is about as strong as my being an astronaut.

I think its obvious you guys only getting one side of the story... the landlord let out the place.. and two of the tenants are taking the !!!! not paying rent on time... most likely now 2 months in arrears... after what 3 months renting?

Thats pathetic behaviour from anyone... student, or not... everyones human and when you say I will pay X by X .. you usually do. I agree with others that you should've got a student loan... to easily cover your accomodation... but am guessing this was !!!!ed against a wall for first month of freshers 'week'.
