  • And if you're on a budget, there's plenty of second hand Dell mini desktops around (GX520???) which are the same kind of size but faster. I've seen them going through IT auctions for £20.

Paul Thurrott recently reviewed the Acer AspireRevo, and he wasn't too impressed.

If your budget allows, you might like to consider a Mac Mini.

I don't see the point either of these things either. Do they even have Wireless support?

I would advise on a large screen laptop if space is at a premium and portability is important. You get wireless support, webcam and microphone..

Toshiba Satellite L350-21Q £310 This one also has a 56k modem. Useful for when broadband is down or when you need to sign in to servers to keep addresses with other ISPs alive.

The model Thurrott reviewed didn't have wifi (just ethernet), but apparently there's a more expensive model that does.

Thanks to all who have offered advice. Not keen on laptops ergonomically find them even more tiring to use. also looking for a budget solution allowing me to keep my good monitor; wireless keyboard and mouse, and I have an external DVD R/RW. After disasterous year financially in which almost all appliace/electronics in my hous ehave had to be replaced, there isn't any spare cash. also though I depend on the PC for some things I can't use it much,

The ASRock ION 330HT-BD has had some good reviews. Those who point to the Acer poor reviews were probably of the single core non-Ion model.
