A message of warning about Tesco Clubcard

Hi,

For a few years we have always saved with the Tesco Christmas Club and put our points through the year to be issued at Christmas, all has been well until this year.

My wife did not receive her vouchers (£300+) when everyone else did, when we phoned to enquire why it was because someone had changed our postcode on their system so the vouchers had been returned by the post office.

To cut a very long story short, we have been on the phone to them every few days and heard lots of different stories from various operators and team managers about what 'should' happen but as yet have not received anything.

They have just offered to send out a card with the credit on BUT this may take another 7 days or so.

So, like most things when it all works its OK, when it goes wrong boy does it go wrong and they take a long time to get things sorted.

Next year we will get a small savings account instead !

Thanks, Simon

That's unusual, as I missed out on some vouchers earlier this year whilst moving house, either I lost them or the Post Office didn't send them in the mail redirect. I phoned Clubcard who simply added them onto my next statement, they were very good about it.

Hi, yes adding them to your next statement is fine but when you only get 1 statement a year at Xmas it's a bit a long to wait until Xmas 2010 to get your 2009 Xmas savings. !

Simple things they seem to cope with but they do not understand 'time is of the essance'.

It might be with the extra mailout for everyone else it is causing problems with the Christmas Club. Normally they would only have Christmas Club to deal with, but this year they also have a mailout to everyone else as well.

Not the OPs problem! Granted, things do sometimes go wrong - but whats infuriating about this **** up is that Tesco can't seem to get their backsides in gear to sort it out quickly and the OP has been given the runaround.

Don't think I ever said that was the OPs problem. I was just giving an option on what might have caused the problem.

I'm guessing they have pulled their finger out by offering a card with it on, not what they usually do for lost, returned, vouchers. It will take seven days to send it out because of Christmas post etc.

To add insult to injury Tesco have just sent out a £20 cash card to us for our efforts in chasing them, its odd that it arrived in 3 days when they have as yet not been able to deliver the vouchers.

I sure that someone could calculate what benefit would be gained by using a savings account through the vs using Tesco Clubcard to save.

I know where we'll be putting our money next year.

All who read this please pass the message on to other Tesco users who may benefit from the knowledge.

And lastly no bickering please, this message was posted for others to learn from.

Not sure what return the Christmas Club thing gives but most easy access accounts are these days offering 2% return maximum.

Slightly off topic but has everyone had their extra Clubcard mailout. It is just that mine hasn't arrived yet but my points have disappeared.
