Can I be really thick and ask if you have to make new ones each year? Or do you recycle ones you've made previouslyI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife Louise BrooksAll will be well in the end. Ha ha i wondered the same.! I would guess they would keep (?) but may not smell. Hopefully someone smarter than me will be along soon with the answer
For all they cost, I'm ok with remaking each year:money:
Doing some googling here and someone said dipping in lemon juice makes them keep the colour better? Anyone done this?A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

I've got a big, big bowl of pot pourri in sight at the moment. In the mix are dried orange slices and a couple of (now very small) dried oranges I did, ooh, around fifteen years ago. I know because that must have been two houses ago - since I moved out of there, I've always been finishing some DIY project just before Xmas and haven't had time to do the oranges again. Also, there's a tiny dried sweetcorn in the mix (bought) with a nibble out of it where my godson bit it when he was a toddler. He's fifteen now!
They do seem to carry on drying out over the years and get smaller and smaller. I don't think they'd bear scrutiny in a bowl on their own!

Right, very exceptionally silly question time indeed.
How dry should they go before I hang them? Squeezing the slice still gives juice? I am fully of stupid questions this evening
Can i put them on the radiator straight with no kitchen roll now they are a bit dry? Just to see if they dry any quicker?

They look great!
I was at lincoln xmas market last weekend and there was a stall there that was selling wreaths and mobiles made from dried chillies, ornage slices, cinnamon sticks etc, they looked great but were very expensive and I did wonder how you do your own so I am going to buy some ornages and have a go at this, thank you!!!Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
I am so pleased I read this thread yesterday! I have put a sliced up orange on a tray & greaseproof under the woodburner (which is on tick over) today. Only peril is the springer puppies might get them! Lol!Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
