update ** GOT IT BACK! Left the cash in the ATM

I am really bashing myself over this one.
Exchanged some Tesco Deals tokens for Legoland Tickets so off we went yesterday.
Went to the ATM to take out £50 as spending money for the day (this should also have covered my Tesco's shopping on the way home). It had taken me 4 weeks to save £30 spending money for this day.
I LEFT IT IN THE FLAMMIN MACHINE!
And it took me an hour to notice.
I want to cry. I had to laugh it off infront of DD3 (who is only 12 and although she knows we are in debt, doesn't really understand the implications nor the extent and I wanted it to stay that way).
I can't believe I did that. I have never done it before and it really will be the last time.
But I can't afford to lose £50. Managed to raid my penny piggy bank and raised £15 for Tesco's, so at least we won't starve this week.
And I have telephoned my Bank - I may be really lucky and perhaps the machine may have sucked it back in again, but I wont know for weeks.
I can't believe I forgot about it.

I did exactly the same thing recently when I was really low on funds. By the time I got back to the cash machine, someone had taken the money. My sympathies.0

awww, I'm sorry to hear that sweetie. I brought home £70 for a bill I had to pay, and managed to lose that somewhere, and was gutted!
Glad you were able to get something together for the food bills though, keep at the bank and see what they say. Surely they should have CCTV on the machince, so will be able to see if someone else took it?This year I'm getting organised once and for all, and going to buy a house with my wonderful other half. And that' s final!
Current Pay Off Target : £1500 :mad:0 -
Ouch. I've done something similar (£20) and it hurts your pride as well as your purse / wallet, right?
I was a student at the time and that £20 seriously had to last me a long time. I went to a cashpoint, requested my last £20....and the cashpoint froze......waited ages, and nothing happened. The bank was open but I didn't want to go inside in case it decided to spit the card and money out while I was in there...a couple of women were walking past and I asked them to keep an eye on the ATM while I went inside. They agreed, I went in, cashier was really unhelpful, and while I was in there the women came in with my card and said "it just spat the card out". I thanked them for their help and went on my way. Checked my balance a moment later and £20 was gone.
Now, did the machine screw up, or did the women rip me off. I suspect the latter. Hopefully, both of them will die a painful death, screaming in agony. I hate to sound unsympathetic, but that sort of behaviour does put you in the "scumbag" category. I couldn't eat for three days because of that.0 -
(*Puts on hypocrite hat*)
But once, I did find a tenner in a cashmachine inside a pub and I spent it without telling the bar staff

The cash machine isn't owned by my bank, so the lady at my bank did mention about CCTV and she didn't know about it at that particular machine - but I will be on their case!0

i really feel for you
Once I got £50 out and I think it must have slipped out of my pocket.
I could hear some teenagers squealing excitedly and talking about me to each other so I think they must have picked it up and kept it!!0 -
I did the same once, but the money was credited back onto my account, i later found out that the machine sucked the money back in after a delay. That was nice of it, although i was lucky as noone stole my money, before the machine sucked it back in.

I know...I've always been a good boy like that. But what would you do? Tell the bar staff? If I was a barman, I'd have taken it for "safe keeping".....0
