Vodaphone - Upgrade BEWARE !!!

Hi

Just a quick warning for anyone who is upgrading with Voda. I have been with Voda with about 7 years and have happy with their service and have obviously upgraded a number of times and always feel that they have been fair in an attempt to keep me. I last upgraded my phone in September 2008 on an 18 month contract and have therefore been looking for my next phone as my upgrade date would be March 2010 and I maybe hopefully able to upgrade early in January. I found the phone that I liked and spoke to the Voda shop and they said that my upgrade date was in fact May and I would be able to upgrade from March 2010. They said this was becasue I had signed a 20 month contract as I had upgraded early. I was really annoyed as when I was upgrading I was never told, that this would be added to my existing contract. Now to be fair the information that I received did say 20 months and it is my fault for missing this, however as I did not know that this had changed. I am so furious  about this as I feel that it is very underhand doing it this way I am very tempted to move Mobile providers in May.

Therefore please be aware that Voda may try this with you so be aware !!

think you'll find it's the same with all the networks. when you upgrade early, the new contract doesn't kick in fully until the old one finishes.

why do you think they do early upgrades? looks like they are doing you a favour, but in fact it ensures they have you for longer

yea all netwroks do this, and its not too bad if you get a nice new phone and like the tarif you are on, but it means you will have to wait longer for your next early upgrade!
  • I understand that you get nothing for nothing, but I think that this should be highhlighted whne you are on the phone for the upgrade.

sounds like you were unlucky, they were at pains to tell me it was 20 months.

though i guess it's always good to actually read the contract you are entering when it arrives
