  • Buy cheap store brands and put into a pump bottle - I did this with my DD and it worked.
You can tell your DD as I told mine when the bottle lasts for 2 weeks you can have a more expensive brand.
Mind you I find nothing wrong with Asda own it is better than some of the more expensive stuff
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Water it down a bit. This will also be better for her hair, as there is such a thing as using too much shampoo, which strips hair of its natural coating leaving it gradually brittle and lifeless, thereby needing more shampoo to give it shine and perpetuating a vicious circle. Your SD definitely uses too much shampoo.

I shampoo mine once a week and use just enough shanpoo to work up a nice lather. The rest of the week I just let plain water under the shower to wash the dust etc off.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

you'll find most shampoos have an ingredient in which "coats" the hair to leave it smooth/shiny - a type of plastic really. Lush shampoo bars don't contain this, and at first your hair might seem dry but it's worth persisting
All their haircare was developed by a trichologist. A shampoo bar should last at least 80 washes, the trick is to swirl it around your head 2-3 times, then massage in until it lathers

So how do they work, it looks like a bar of soap....yes?

  • Some are, but most are round, and seem to be made of tons of compressed "squiggles" of soap - why not have a look at the Lush website if you haven't a store nearby

I love those solid bars for the gym..just make sure to dry them out good and proper and should last a longgg time

Personally would just get shampoo/conditioner at poundland for a 12 yr old... infact I do that for a very fussy 18 yr old who would probably go mad if she knew lol... They do Loreal Elvive, Aussie haircare and Original source stuff...:)

Two plastic eggcups, and give her a measure of each to take in the shower. Too much shampoo will really dry out her hair then she'll need tons of extra conditioner just to smooth it down again, but the hair will still be damaged underneath. One blob of shampoo around the size of a 10p piece is more than enough (unless her hair is waist length and thick) and as long as her hair is wetted down well. Twice that of conditioner, unless her hair is really short.

Might be worth going over with her how to wash her hair properly? I watch my DD's friends in the showers after swimming washing their hair and it's blindingly obvious few of them have a clue.

I've used the Lush solid shampoo and conditioner - I liked them and they are economical, however, the shampoo (the Blonde) made my head itch and I got lumps on my scalp.

Yes. Have a look HERE (but be warned the Lush site can take an age to load sometimes).

You wet hair, rub the bar on your hair and then rinse out. Just like a bar of soap.

I've been using them since Lush was Cosmetics-to-Go and prefer them to bottles. They last longer and are much nicer. A two-in-one shampoo/conditioner bar might be the thing you are looking for.
