I've got a SD that uses so much shampoo & conditioner. I'm talking half a bottle on one hair wash. Now I have thought of a hand pump bottle but I dont think it would help.
I was told about a 'Lush' product- Shampoo in a Bar. Has anyone got any recommendations for this?
Thanks

I bought a couple of these on recommendation from my MIL and i must say they are the worst things possible for my hair. My hair is so straw like after use with these it takes a good few washes with 'normal' shampoos and conditioners to get it back to normal. I sisnt go in just buying them off the shelf either i asked for advise on which would suit my hair/scalp type. Spent a good few quid on them and now they are sitting on in the bathroom shelf in their tins.:j Was married 2nd october 2009 to the most wonderful man possible:j

And I use, and love, the lush shampoo bars - they are lovely on my hair! Clearly it depends on what your hair likes and doesn't like. Might be worth trying one out.
If not, other tricks are to simply switch to a much cheaper shop's own brand shampoo, or use a cheap shampoo to 'water' down whatever it is you buy.
Would the threat of DS having to buy her own because you're only going to provide a basic shampoo have any effect?0 -

If she only come 2 or 3 times a month could you keep a nearly empty bottle just for her use? This would then limit how much she uses and you can just top it up (just a little;)) before she comes again.
It's only a game

Put cheap stuff in expensive bottles :0) I bet she wouldn't notice the difference!I will save my tesco £1 savings stamps this year! .......so far = £50 (full card#1)
Card #2 £6. I will not be skint at Chistmas this year!

you'll find most shampoos have an ingredient in which "coats" the hair to leave it smooth/shiny - a type of plastic really. Lush shampoo bars don't contain this, and at first your hair might seem dry but it's worth persisting
All their haircare was developed by a trichologist. A shampoo bar should last at least 80 washes, the trick is to swirl it around your head 2-3 times, then massage in until it lathers0 -
I'm another person that loves Lush shampoo bars. The gentle lentil one is good and leaves my hair really soft. I have to say though, the jungle solid conditioner didn't suit me.Not Buying It 2015

i love the lush bars, especially the Karma one, it does make tangly hair better without leaving that horrid conditioner 'heaviness-and-greasy-too-quickly' thing.
the red one 'new' isnt great on my hair but is fab on 60something mum's hair. the 'hard' isnt great either although im in a hard water area. SO, it is best to take advice. i stick to 'jumping juniper' 'karma' and 'seanic' and am very happy indeed.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. before I lost my barnet to chemo I had fair flyaway hair and could only use stuff like Tresseme which was quite expensive.Since the return of my shining glory it has returned quite dark (well pepper and salt dark) and thick.it also has a slight curl to it that I never had before. The best bit is I can use some of the really inexpensive stuff without any problem I now use Sainsburys basic shampoo and conditioner at 28p a bottle, and its brilliant ,saves me bundles as well. I would do as another poster suggested and top up existing bottle with cheaper shampoo. At 12 she can't be that fussy about what she puts on her head and if she's not paying for it then she can just put up with what's available.0

It's probably worth mentioning to her that using too much shampoo actually means her hair is less clean! Using so much means she's probably not rinsing it all out, so there's probably a lot of residue which will attract dirt and grease and make her think she needs to wash it more than she does. Since I read a tip from a hairdresser in a magazine I've used 10p sized amounts (my hair is mid-way down my back) and my hair's in great condition. I only shampoo the roots of my hair, as that's where the natural oils are that can lead to greasiness.
She's definitely using more than is good for her hair!0
