Cheapest chicken breast and tinned tuna?

You could try turkey breast, that's what I'd do tbh.0

We used to get turkey breast as it was cheaper but it's not so much now, though If Lidl still do whole breast, they worked out at a good price (haven't visited Lidl for a while).
I tried the Farm foods chicken, but found it a bit dry and tough. Then religiously bought the Iceland bags @ £5, but saw the Asda value breasts @ £3.20, and decided to give them a go. I have to agree, they are really nice chicken! That said my local has been sold out everytime I've visited recently, and I'm sure the price had gone up too. :rolleyes:A waist is a terrible thing to mind.0 -
I buy the frozen Tesco Market Value ones which are £3.75 for a 1 kilo bag.
They do have added water but as I steam them (defrost first of course) it makes them really moist.
You get at least 5 large ones in the bag.
I put a couple in my plastic steamer dish so that I can save the juices to use as stock and steam them for about 40 mins. I don't think you really need to steam them for that length of time but as some are quite thick I would rather be on the safe side.
I usually let them cool, fridge them and then they are a lot easier to slice, my daughter has them for sandwiches and the dog gets one to add to her meals too.

Well Asda Basics Frozen Chicken Breasts the last time I looked were £3.20 per 1kg packet. Bargain! Also they're not that full of water, unlike Tesco's equivilant which practically boil in a wok,or just fill up the fat tray in a George Forman grill lol.
I bought a pack the other day and noticed that they've added dextrose to the ingredients  and the price has gone up, they were £3.20 for ages and I think they are £3.65 now. I won't be buying them anymore because I can't have anything with sugar in it, shame because these were one of my staples.
*wonders when they will make dressing gowns acceptable day wear?*No new toiletries challenge - use up the stash first!NSD Jan 2/150 -
Morrisons have multipacks of john west tuna for 2.20 at the mo - i think there is 4 tins per pack
That is a good bargain. I picked upm 2 packs of 4 John West Tuna at my local co-op for $2 a few weeks ago and then noticed in the tesco express that it was 1.39 a can !
So good idea to stock up on tuna and not just buy from the local shop.0 -
Have you considered Quorn?.....0
