All of which remains academic if there's a PABX (or PMBX) at the distant end and the hang-up isn't/wasn't recognised as such. Additionally, then calling information lines there can be an unspecified timeout - thinking of the story of the cheating pilot's girlfriend who got her own by by calling the speaking clock in Tokyo from his phone, before departing for the airport. The timeout there was 6 hours..... :)

just got off the phone to virgin and I have been charged for 4 minutes, thank god!

I so hope this is the case for everyone! I've just discovered that I didn't hang up properly after calling a taxi this morning...14 hours after making the call!!!

Just called virgin but it won't show up until tomorrow if I've been charged! The line was dead when I noticed so I'm hoping they hung up at their end & call would have been automatically cut off.

I know pregnancy can make you clumsy & forgetful but this could be rather expensive...eek!

But if the call had lasted for any length of time, then the taxi company won't be very happy as you would have been blocking their line and hence they wouldn't have got any business.

Assuming you called a landline at the taxi firm, then they would have put the handset down and the call would have dropped out after a few minutes.

Thanks, luckily call lasted 2 mins 28 secs - phew!

Although taxi company did keep me waiting long enough so could have been pay back.... ;)
