35 years ago, the big media scare was over population - we were all doomed. Then it was the coming ice age that was going to kill everyone. Now we're all going to die of global warming. Kind of typical that Lennon didn't follow the mainstream thought.

As an investor, you know that any kind of investment opportunity has its risks, and investing in Stocks or Precious Metals is highly speculative. All of the content I post is for informational purposes only.

Not certain if you are agreeing with John Lennon, or questioning his credentials?
Pop singer wasn't he?0 -
Anyone who questions the basics of global warming puts themselves beyond the realm of logical discourse.And if, you know, your history...0

Then there is nothing more to be said; ain't Faith wonderful

Its very important to question scientific judgement, Otherwise its not science its faith. I I agree with with the evidence but you shouldn't take what people say without first analysing the data and the researches conclusion.0

The two issues are closely related since more people emit more greenhouse gas emissions, subsequently leading to more warming. Even if the countries with a high population increase are not emitting much carbon today they will aspire to do so in the future making greenhouse gas control even more difficult. Population control is one of the most efficient methods of reducing carbon as well as easing other pressures such as food and water.The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) said in a report on 18 November that women must be empowered to combat climate change through better availability of contraception to slowdown population growth.
The 94-page State of the World Population Report 2009, launched in London, urged world leaders to take into account improved access to family planning services in future discussions such as next month’s UN climate change summit in Copenhagen. “There is still time ... to think creatively about population, reproductive health and gender equality and how these might contribute to a just and environmentally sustainable world,” said the report.

Heres an interesting fact for ya(according to the Metro, who I trust unlike the Daily Mail lol)
The US and China combined emit 40% of our current greenhouse gases, whereas the UK only emit 2%. Quite a large difference, dont you think?0 -
A less well known fact is that the UK is the highest historic contributor to Greenhouse Gases after the US.0

I agree but the fact is that the fundamentals of climate change are as close to irrefutable as you can get. I heard what I thought was a good anaolgy the other day. If you put your daughter on a plane and then were told there was a 1/100 chance of it crashing, any sensible person would take her off. Yes, 1/100 is a relatively small risk (the real risk is far, far smaller, in the millions) but the potential loss is so great that it's not worth it. Not using plastic carriers and turning the TV off might do nothing, a degree here or there might or might not lead to catastrophe, however, when the world is at risk, everyone and everything, it makes sense to act.And if, you know, your history...0 -

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
they stopped calling it global warming when they realised that records had shown the globe had actualy stopped warming, that's when they did a massive u-turn and conveniently re-named it "climate change", of course the climate is changing, it has been doing that since the earth was formed, gordon clown unwittingly put his foot in it on british telly yesterday morning when asked about the effect of getting the copenhagen treaty signed "it would mean at least 500,000 more jobs in the uk and give a massive boost to our exports and economy"--nothing to do with gasses or temperatures, just money and more tax for the governbent as usual!!
