Just in case anyone wasn't aware: Waitrose have changed their policy and the ISP still thinks it's the mutts nuts;):D
The Institute of Sales Promotion's campaign against coupon abuse has achieved another victory: Waitrose has now changed its policy on accepting money-off coupons, bringing it into line with the other major UK supermarkets.
As of the end of January 2010, shoppers will now only be allowed to use coupons if the relevant product is in their shopping basket.
Waitrose’s marketing director, Rupert Thomas, confirmed the policy change in a letter to the ISP in mid-January. In the letter, he says: “We have put measures in place to step up the enforcement of the Terms and Conditions of supplier product coupons in January.
Staff will now be “empowered” to check coupons presented to them and refuse them where the customer has clearly not purchased the product. Leaflets explaining the new policy will be handed out to customers.
Thomas also said that Waitrose Epos system is being updated “in order to be able to match a product coupon to the product in a customer’s basket and this key development will eradicate all coupon malredemption going forward at Waitrose. We anticipate that this change will be in place at the back end of this year.”
Until the change, Waitrose shoppers were effectively being allowed to use money-off coupons as if there were cash, a fact which was regularly highlighted on consumer websites such as Moneysavingexpert.com. Tesco was also accepting coupons without requiring customers to buy the relevant product, but it changed its policy in October last year.
However, Thomas stressed in his letter to the ISP that Waitrose never knowingly tried to claim money back from manufacturers for coupons which had been wrongly accepted.

Went to T's this morning with DD2 and FD and an envelope full of till spits, MOC's and conditional spend coupons (couldn't fit them in my wallet). Did a biggish shop, handed over all me coupon's to young lad SA who took them all off me (Farm Foods £5, Till spit £9 off £60, £7 off £50 from Tesco mailing, 2 x Dove, an Airwick). I then noticed I'd gone over £75 after offers so asked him if he could take another £2.50 Farm Foods - "yeah no problem" :T - first time I've been allowed in my store to combine Farm Foods with other BIG MOC's:D.
I also used some extra points coupons from mailings and got 372 points as well and a 5p off petrol/diesel till spit (I'd stopped using Tesco fuel but I'll have to use this - be silly not too). So got £32 off and paid £54 - result :T. I happened to notice he took my 30p off Carte D'Or (courtesy of Blue - cheers:D) even though I hadn't bought it - whoops :rotfl:. He didn't really look at the MOC's that closely - I think he was a "happy scanner" and probably would have scanned a few more....
Unfortunately my experience was marred slightly by the non acceptance of a till spit for 75p off magazines which wouldn't go through. "No problem - I'll take it to Customer Services". Trotted up to CS and they couldn't take it. After much cafuddle, they eventually refunded me the mags and put the transaction through again - used non-scan for the till spit and gave me my 75p - phew!

Apologies am having problems with this link does it work for you as it doesnt for me. If anyone could help I would appreciate it - just Google "Calories Exactly" and the link should come up as the second item in the list. Thanks2008£3002009£13002010£15002011£41952012£21942013£1494
