Hi
We have multi room package and have decided to upgrade to 2nd HD Box however to our amazement we were told by SKY would have to buy this box for £250 as no deals on second box!
Has anyone had this experience? There has to be an alternative as I refuse to pay anymore to SKY!

Unfortunately only the 1st HD box is discounted by Sky. Your only alternative is to source one privately.
Also don't forget to get all your HD channels on the 2nd box you need a 2nd HD pack at an extra £10 p/m (in addition to the £10 multiroom fee).0 -
You would think they would offer better deals seeing the monthly bill, but unfortunately there are just no deals.
If you already have sky+ box then you could just buy a box from ebay or elsewhere and just fit it remotely and pair it with the card and add HD over the phone.0 -

It's not Sky who discount the box,it's BIB (British Interactive Broadcasting) who do.0 -

Yes Spike I am aware of that (Its actually 'Marketing Contributions Ltd' that give the discount but that would just be padantic!) but most people are not aware of the finer details of the contracts entered into and just see it as 'Sky' in the global sense (which it is really as all part of the same group it's just internal accounting) and I always think it seems easier not to cause any confusion just to keep refering to them as 'Sky'. Makes no difference really.0 -
Cheers for your replies. So Sky/British Interactive Broadcasting/Marketing Contributions Ltd or whoever you are win again!!0

I argued this one once with sky, when i got my HD box, as the first HD box was priced at £299, and the second, they wanted £299 as I had already received a discounted box.
I did eventually get a deal on my second box, because the first box was full price, they tried fobbing me off saying i had a sky+ box discounted about 5 years ago, which I just laughed at...
It's worth a try if you haven't had a discounted HD box before, however, all terms and conditions do state it only applies to the first HD box..
