Hi juicy tube. I think with the discount it's about the price my mum and her friends bought it in France. As i said i really liked it and used it a lot during prob 8mths up to lending it to my friend.. as you also used it to mince and chop etc...it's not just for puree.. you chose the consistency of the food....
I guess it's up to you to see about budget... and how many kids you're gonna have and use it for!
I asked for it as a present as i wouldn't spent the money myself and thought instead of clothes or toys i preferred something useful.....
Not sure if it helps or not....but to finish i would say.. not an essential item for baby food but a pretty easy and useful one nonetheless!!!A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

starlite wrote:Hi, I would say this is a waste of money.
Our baby was only on properly pureed foods for two months, and I can now just use a fork to slightly chop his food, or he eats finger foods like bread and cheese, bananas etc.
Invest in a decent handblender and just steam in batches, freeze in ice cube trays and take out the night before to defrost..easy!
You can also buy little bags that you put veg/ fruit in, then microwave and it works the same as steaming, very handy, a lot of my friends use them!
Starlite-are these special types of bags? Where do you get them?

these are the ones, but they are much cheaper in asda, and I have seen them in pound shops before too.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
Starlite-this link goes to homepage rather than to this product..
Which section do I need to look in to find them?
TIA

you can search https://www.asda.co.uk for 'polylina' and they are called roasting and microwave bags
or in sainsburys go to household - kitchen - kitchen drawer - food and freezer and they are right there! (zip n steam)Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0 -
Baby food doesn't need to be pureed. Electricity is a fairly new invention. We managed quite fine without blenders before. And although they're handy, and I use mine for all sorts of things, I never blended my son's baby food. I used a fork and mashed it up, after cooking it well until it was very soft.
The bonus to this machine imo, isn't that it blends it for you, but that it prevents you burning the pan dry and having burnt carrots sticking to your pan. I don't think I know a mum who hasn't done this at the beginning!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0
