Struggled to find anything about that handset or what ftm mode is.
I think FTM mode is a "Factory Test Mode", probably using for servicing the handset and is not meant to be used for normal operation as it turns of the reciever so no signal (no calls, texts etc.)
I found no info on the web or on ZTE website which is mostly in Japanese. As such i can only recommend you to return it to the store you brought it from and ask for a replacement as it may have gone faulty.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
