Sony Ericsson phone kept by manufacturer for 8 MONTHS awaiting repair

Hi there,

I'm not sure where else to post this but would really appreciate any advice on my issue.

My SE phone broke down at the beginning of this year. I had taken phone insurance out on the handset when I bought it and on the insurer's advice arranged to have it repaired by the manufacturer as it was still under warranty.

SE confirmed it was still under warranty and told me to sent it in. They wrote to tell me they had received it but believed it had since become out of warranty and I would have to pay if I wanted it fixed or if I even wanted it returned to me.

I disputed this with them over the phone. Long story short. I got back in touch with them last week after not hearing from them for 5 months. This week they phoned to say they had destroyed my phone and were accepting some responsibility for the initial mixup and so they sent me a replacement phone this morning.

All in all I was without my phone for 8 months and had to use my old crappy phone in it's place.

My question is: How can I take up a complaint with them and claim some kind of compensation for being without my phone for 8 months?

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the long story.

O

Why did you leave it 5 months before you contact them?, my phone and I live together (so to speak) 2 days with out and I am on another phone to the repair people........

Look on their web site to see what they offer in terms of customer care / insurance/ time frames etc that may help.
