They are right though, you don't get 9 faulty routers in a row, its got to be a problem with the setup environment, software or settings...

In total I've spent over 10 hours on the phone to Netgear  going through the set ups for the routers & about another 3 hours on hold!

I was passed from the bottom level tech guys to the top level ones (even opened up the router so that they could work on it from India) and everything they tried resulted in nothing. Not even if I moved the router to a different place or tried to connect with friend's laptops, my phone or our Wii.

The current Belkin works fine in exactly the same position as the Netgear was. About 4 of the replacement Netgears failed at the turning on stage  So to me it doesn't seem like they check the refurbed routers they send out to customers.

They tried to argue with me on the first replacement and were not very helpful at all at any point, in fact the Irish lady I spoke to at the end was very, very rude. I've now given up on the router & I've chucked it away as I really don't want to deal with them again.

Looking at the reviews on Amazon it looks as if I'm not the only one with problems http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-DG834N-RangeMax-Wireless-Router/dp/B000G3JTV2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1260460206&sr=8-1

This is in contrast to Logitech who I had to phone last night re a faulty mouse, the phone was answered in seconds and they were very polite & friendly :j

Sorry to go off topic OP!
