I don't know if you have children but if you do bear in mind that child benefit is now included when calculating your surplus.

I too would put in a letter saying there are no changes.

I would definately put the letter in and if it upsets them too bad! I sent them a very emotive and waflling email explaining why I should not have an IPA of £125 a month (that was before my OH had this saying they wanted the same from him). Guess I should have calmed down first, but hey, they were left knowing exactly how I felt! They didn't seem to upset when they called me! I'm sure you will be fine, try not to worry. I am trying not to until I have something to worry about, because I am sure they have made major mistakes and that things will be ok. Think positive.

Looking back, I'm glad I didn't have to send in new IPOQ, going the full 12 months was worth it.

Whats child benefit? The £20 a week thing? I'm confused this. Ta.

What do child tax credits do? Only asking as I have a change of circumstances just come through. Ta

Actually I think if your case is a straight forward one, that is no assets or other half contributing this or that the outcome should be the same if you submit the same income and expenditure. The reason being the first OR should have left notes why your expenditure was accepted, so does not really matter if current OR thinks otherwise. The last thing they would want is contradicting each other, that would seem unprofessional. In addition since you went br in April 09 I guess? This is the beginning of the financial year when most expenditure goes up like rent, gas ,electricity etc. So focus on these areas and your surplus will probably be less than before.

Didn't work for me Chux. I has allowed £700 for housekeeping for 3 adults (1 - 19 in f/t education) and 2 kids and now they say £550 is maximum!

@dottydora maybe its because I live in central London(higher cost of living)? Or maybe ORs are just doing what they want?

Bit of both I reckon Chux.
  • I have just seen a CAB advisor and she told me the government have just issued new guidelines. The figure she gave me for housekeeping was £673 and that is for 2 adults and 3 children so I can't imagine where the OR has got £550 from for your 3 adults and 2 kids!?!?
