Suspended for GM

If I have been suspended for GM but the suspension has been postponed until i return from work from sick leave (i was called up on sick leave to be suspended, all the accusations arose when i was home sick, not when i was at work) and I wanted to look for another job, would I be better off going to the GM hearing or looking for another job and quitting?

I have been told that there was a breech of confidentiality and it was me that breeched it. I think I am completely innocent and do understand that even though I may think im innocent, their rules may say otherwise.

They suspended me in March and I was signed off for 1 year so I will be back to work next March when they plan to suspended me on full pay the day after my sick leave expires.

Im just worried because I have bills to pay so I do not want to be without a salary from march so i do not know whether im better of looking now or facing the music with the chance of getting fired

Although if i looking for a new job, my current employer can say they planned to suspend me in March if i leave before then? Isn't it?

I hope someone can share some advice with me

TIA

What employer do you think will employ someone who is on a year long absence and on the verge of dismissal for GM and probably won't get a reference.

The employer can still do a GM against you even if you resign.

I would imagine that the employer is being cautious about the employee claiming discrimination/ unfair dismissal.

Go find a new job before March.
That way you get a choice.

Leaving after dismissal and leaving ofyour own accord are the two other options and neither are any good compared to a new job starting around March.time.

If you weren't in this situation there is a good chance that you'd need to work out notice periods so delaying a start isn't a biggie, and you can't tell a new emplyer about a GM sacking that hasn't happened or even that you are suspended..that's also not happened yet.
If they dismiss you after you leave...well that would be a first :rotfl:.
Despite what the troll says, you can't sack anyone if they already left. ..all they can do is give you a poor reference ...IF they get asked which is somewhat under your influence. If you work for MI5 there may be other sanctions of course.

I'd look around and get away from there. You'd not be happy staying, and they don't seem to much want you either. Use the time you have to find something better even if just to keep you solvent until better comes along.

The employer can state in a reference that the OP would have been subject to disciplinary proceedings for GM upon their return from maternity/ sickness absence, which to many potential employers is as bad as having been dismissed for GM.

My experience is most large companies will only confirm dates worked.

A smaller company may well tell a new employer something like that.

Yes I was orginally off sick due to having surgery. The surgery went wrong and left me with legs that could not function properly, hence the long time off work. After long physio, I am on the road to walking again. I fell pregnant during my time off which is why they stopped my sick pay and put me on SMP

    The best advice so far.

Don't wait, find another job and move on.

The OP is, we are led to believe:

    1) Recovering from illness/injury that made them unable to even walk.
    2) Pregnant.

Even with all the anti-discrimination laws in place, what employer is going to employ the OP?
