'Cos clearly the best outcome is for someone to borrow money and not be bothered to pay it back.
Do you understand that the whole financial crisis was created by people not paying back what they owe?
Stick that up your Harris.
I thought that the finacial crisis was caused by greedy banks lending out mnoney that they didn't actually have(hence need for bail out outs) to absolutely anyone regardless of existing financial obligations or their ability to pay any of it back..0 -

Partly correct, the rest of the blame lays at the door of the f e ckless morons who borrowed more than thay could afford to pay back and also government for NOT regulating the Banks.
Ive yet to see one person with their arm forced up their back, marched into a bank and FORCED to borrow money..
People needed to take personal responsability :rolleyes:0 -

Doesn't cure the problem though Stebiz, society loses in the end.
The !!!!less WILL have no choice but to become more responsable, including the Banks..
The difference between you and I is I,m a realist I know both sides were !!!!less you are very naive in believing its entirely the banks fault.;)
Feel free to send me your e-mail ,then proof of ALL your so called write offs .... Of even better post them as links on here so we call all see them. I'm not doubting you,i'm sure some are so it might be an idea to "walk the walk" so to speak
This internet thingy can be very deceptive, people perporting to be people they arent etc.Bit like me saying I have an Aston Martin and live in a castle, when actually I live in a 3 bedroom semi and drive a Skoda Octavia0 -

I don't for one minute believe it was all the banks fault. The banks were greedy . The government were useless. The borrowers were foolish.
Sadly. I can't see that anything has changed. The banks got let off. The government blamed it on everybody but themselves. And the borrowers can 'at large' get their debts written off, if they have the brains and willingness to do so.

Can't dis-agree with that Stebiz..........0

Leveller - Merry Christmas mate
BUT you know it wasn't caused by unenforceability, i've explained this to you 100's of times now! The banks caused the recession (in part) not the consumer nor their ability to repay/unenforceability.....
Sorry but that is the facts mate, love it or hate it, its the way it is...

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't the global crisis partially caused by banks gambling on sub prime debt, not wanting to stir too much but that doesn't that mean both arguments are a little right?
And i'd clike to state i have no problem with people legally avoiding debt, i settled 3 defaults from 3-4 years ago, if they had been 6yrs the statute barred route may have been a route i was prepared to take, and if my financial situation hadn't dramatically changed maybe i wouldn't have settled. I wouldn't make myself destitute out of a moral obligation to pay a debt, and i certainly wouldn't think any less of someone for trying to sort out their finances through whatever means necessary.0
