How to get picture off old mobile phone

Hey all
I'd appreciate some help with this, feel free to move to a more suitable board if required.
My Dad has an ancient Samsung E700 flip phone. It used to be mine about 9 years ago, and he has had it for last 6-ish years. It was originally on O2 but he used a Virgin PAYG SIM in it.
The screen has gone completely on it and you cannot see anything on it when you turn it on. My Dad wants to get his contacts off it and most importantly there is a picture of his Dad's (my grandad's) ashes on there.
Previously when screen still worked I attempted to get picture off it but phone does not have Bluetooth. Picture is on phone rather than SIM card.
Can anyone suggest how I can get the picture off?
TIA

You could try plugging in a USB cable into the SAmsung and see if your PC recognises it as a disk drive. Alterrantively, download Samsung PC suite from Samsung mobile. If it recognises the phone, there's an option to view the contacts and copy images.0

old phones like that got Infrared connection, so if you lost the cable you might wanna try that, but you also might need an old laptop cos new laptops dont have Infrared functions any more.

Ok thanks for replies. I don't have the USB cable so will need to buy one. We have shop locally that sells them so will try there and then if no luck I'll try Ebay.
