Halifax and PPI

Hi all
I am about to claim PPI from Halifax from a loan back in 2003 for 20K for which on the form is a tick against yes to accept PPI but cannot remember ever requesting. There is my signature in the usual place but not against the PPI. I just believed that the amount to pay each month was what it was !
This is my first (of many I hope to reclaim ) and wish to know that I am going down the right road for this claim
Any help or comments appreciated.
Many thanks
Ps Martin and team - you do a brilliant job and have spent a few late nights reading your comments etc

I would just get you reclaim letter in and see what they say. Just because there is a tick does not mean it was ever your tick and it sounds strange that you would sign for the loan and not the PPI.
Good luck and let us know what they say.
ps... if you need any help in the reclaiming then there is a guide here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance and template letters.
Always send your letters by recorded delivery so you have proofs etc. and you have to give the firm 8 weeks for a full and final response. Don't be put off by a first letter saying "go away" or words to that effect. Most of them do this but you then reiterate your complaint and if necessary take it to the FOS.0 -

Hello Gazza and welcome.;)
Its possibly the PPI was automatically crossed or ticked after you signed, but with your reasons I would give it a go.
For more information here below, template letters to help you through this, and a checklist of mis selling reasons, if any of the also occur to you also write them as well, and they have 8 weeks in full to respond, post by recorded delivery.

Hi Gazza
I sent my first letter to the Halifax on 21st October reclaiming PPI on a loan I took out in 2005 for £4000, I had a response more or less straight away stating that they didnt admit liability but has a good will they would pay out. A further two weeks down the line and they paid a total of 1493.00 into my account which included the 8% interest.
Good luck with your claims!!! I hope yours is as easy with the Halifax.
However I sent off letters to Lloyds TSB and Blackhorse at the same time but they seem to be fobbing me off. I'm just preparing for the second stages with them.0 -
Good luck on these Gazza.;)Update for you all
