We used to buy with a cuple of friends through a national supplier. In total that was 14 large or giant dogs eating tripe ...and for the two of us with three it has become cheaper to feed a ''good'' dried food (I never thought that would ever happen). BUT tbh, money is not primary issue, and if tripe is what she wants she can have it, very, very gladly!
  • Hi, I've just been reading this thread, and am curious which breed of dog this concerns. Is it a rare breed by any chance? I have a dog with similar issues regarding hard food, though being mainly raw fed I can keep the weight up.

I have 2 Giants myself, I feed Burns complete, but add raw meat with it. they love tripe though, its like their most favourite thing ever! (they love it frozen in the summer and we call it ice pops!)

Does it not upset their stomachs frozen?
  • I have read that iced water can cause bloat - but I have also read reports that this is false - it may be worth researching further if planning on giving still frozen food though.

Just a thought, but what about nature's menu? It's frozen raw feed, but it's kind of mushed up, and you defrost it (but don't cook it).

The texture is similar to cat food, and very meaty, so it might appeal.

lostinrates - when i had my last cat who was FIV I had trouble gettin him to eat - even soft food- I researched about FIV cats and tempting them to eat and one site suggested using the melt from frozen meat. this worked - he loved it! i used to use it on his mushed up food (he had teeth and gum probs) which encouraged him to eat. i was able to reduce the melt very quickly but gave it to him occasionally as a treat. I cant help thinking though - my staffie would eat cat food before his own! perhaps they find it tastier? dont feed the cats before you feed the dog?

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
