You could be right with the Halifax but NR may not, so Halifax might have to send a cheque. I did phone NR as my Halifax ISA account was closed but they said thay hadn't received the money!

Ours matured on the 15th, were transferred to the miserable 0.2% ISA, then showed as closed on the 20th (which I thought was odd as it was a Sunday).

I suppose mail will take ages to arrive right now, so will wait till January before hassling NR if nothing has come.

Thats my plan as well althought you was lucky to get 0.2% I only got 0.1% lol
  • Update......letters from Halifax have arrived saying money was sent to NR on the 19th, but do not say whether cheque or BACS.

    My update too:
Transfer from Halifax 4% to NR 3.5%.

Posted forms transfer forms to NR on 4th Dec. Had letter today from NR that deposit from Halifax was made into NR on 21st Dec.

I think that's pretty good for an ISA transfer having gone through the process before with other providers.

    Happy Xmas!

Partial update.......Halifax seem to have sent cheques by post. My husband today received his certificate from NR (issue 127 3.5%) dated 30th December.

    Nothing for me yet.

I received the same letter today also dated the 30th December.

I only think it is a pity that the saving account can't be viewed online !

Final update....received my certificate today, dated 31/12, so I also have the 3.5% NR ISA. That's good, but where has my £30k+ been since the 19th when HBOS closed my account? There really should be a better way of doing these transfers so that savers do not lose any of the meagre interest currently on offer.

I know Christmas and New Year has happened, but I'd press Northern Rock for some back dated interest. 16 days to pay a check in your new account is pathetic.

Mine is the 30th and was only for 15k. If you get any extra interest do report back on here. With Lloyds they did pay they interest from the date on the cheque so it is worth asking !!
