I'd say, as a target, middle income Britain is a sitting duck for a government desperate for more cash.0

I only ever seem to meet people on the dole. Except online, which is why I am here so much.
Its not easy to get o exclusive events, but thats not the only place to meet people of differnt income brackets. Anyway, it will be even easier soon.;) You can have lunch in DH's canteen with him if you like.;) I'm thinking of prawn free alternative suggestions BTW...just not sure yet what to suggest. I would suggest something like Pizza on the Park but the music might be uncomfortable for you IIRC, so ...I'm still thinking!0 -

I've actually no idea where wealthy people do hang out... golf clubs? at each others' houses at dinner parties?0 -

Isn't there a statistic somewhere that says anybody paying higher rate tax is already right up there in the Top X% of earners in the country.... and £100k is something like the 2% or so? Although I might be mixing up income and household income. But still, £100k for a household is probably higher than 90% of others.
Its soon to be in the new middle taxation bracket, which I agree is not entirely accurate, and will lead to much righteous indignation. But As a household income its not so terribly far off. Once basic needs are met (and I find all the tax credits etc confuse this issuse) you initially have to decide priorities for the bit extra. Recently I tink people thought they could have it all, which has confused what is truely afordable and what isn't, on appearances.
Edit: rich percentage has changed quite quickly if I remember. I'm sure there was a gadget on here at one time where you could see how ''rich'' you were (only on annual income) compared to rest of the country.0 -

Why can't you go to a nice pub?as opposed to a Wetherspoons? Cost of a drink? Eek it out if thts a problem. I guess I only ever have one/two. I often just drink water.
Rich people hangout....all sortd of places where other people hangout. That's sort of my point. They also hang out at other places ..some hangout with other rich people to feel worthy, some just have interests hobbies and life to get on with. At this sort of bracket, they'll be in normal places...the supermarket, the pub....might try and do some worthy stuff...but won't afford too much of that, compartively (especially if paying car finance!). At work, a lot of them....0 -

I think the newspaper story chose the figure as an easy number to digest, and the figure of 2.5m families is quite a significant number.0 -

It is getting harder now though. When you toss your car keys into the bowl, one set of Audi TT keys pretty much looks like the others!0 -
Frankly everyone in Britain is "rich" compared with 80% (if not more) of the rest of the world.0

Stupid, Selfish and everso greedy to think you can't live on that amount of money.
In fact - it's BARBARIC
& so these people should be taxed to the hilt.0 -
Mitch just perfectly demonstrated my post0
