Over £350 per yearJust to add a word of caution about the Credit card signups, to many application in a short space of time
(I think the adviced period is 1 every 3 month) will have a negative affect on your credit file, and if you have a poor credit score you'll probably get turned down, and to many unused open credit cards to much available credit will also probabably result in a declined cardPROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBT NERD #869Numpty,Not sure why but I'm crying. Only Amazon ( once) and Play.com ( Minimum total spend) credit cards do the cards actually have to be used. Best to activate the cards though. If 0800 activation number not give www.saynoto0870.com often finds a freephone number.
Best to avoid repeat applications from MBNA ( I did get Amazon and Play.com, chucked Amazon and then got rejected for Virgin, probably due to MBNA "Customer experience")
Best Cashback offers are :
Capital One CC 23.00 ( TCB) ( 3rd card option would be hard to get rejected for )
http://www.topcashback.co.uk/capital_one_credit_card/
Halifax CC 20.00 ( I did this via TCB, cancelled card after cashback was paid, waited two months then had another application accepted via Fat Cheese.) Fatcheese pay 2% xtra via its loyalty scheme, TCB pay up to 10% xtra based on prev months transactions. ( Fatcheese, Quidco and TCB) I plan to cancel card and apply again via Quidco.
Post Office Credit Card 18.00 Next on my hit list :rotfl: ( TCB and Quidco)
Amazon CC 15.00 credit to account after one purchase.
Worth remembering Alliance and Leicester Current Account 50.00 via TCB and Quidco + 100.00 from A+L for switching payments. ( must not have had an A+L account for preceding three months for 100.00 switching offer)
That's great. Thanks very muchWill have a look into those when i get home from work

I already have a credit card that i rarely use and a debit card, both from Nationwide. As far as i'm aware, i have a reasonable credit rating, as i'm lucky enough to have never been in debt and always pay off anything i use on the credit card immediately. Is there anything that could affect my credit score or would applying for these cards, even if i did one every 3 months and cancelled them after a short while, cause any problems?
Thanks again :beer:0 -

I did close my Nationwide Credit Card that I also rarely used in order to reduce the number of cards that I hold, today I closed my Play.com CC as Post Office Credit Card application asks how many CC are held.
Homeowners with good credit histories tend to have less probs having applications accepted than tenants as are less likely to do a runner in theory.
Those who never need credit have no fear from credit score rating, Abbey told me in a convo that the most important thing that affects credit ratings is " late payments" not whether someone has applied for 10 accounts in 3 months.
This is what :money: says in link I posted "earlier this morning".

How freebie grabbing hits your credit score
Every time you apply for credit it has an impact on your credit score – and thus your ability to get further new credit (see the Credit Rating: Understand and improve yours guide). "Yet if you've a good credit history there's no need to be unduly worried. There are no hard and fast rules, but many have successfully applied for ten cards without problem."
It's not how many, but how often that counts.
Each time you apply for a card, a search is added to your credit file. Lots of these in a short space of time will shoot down your credit score; the overall number of applications is less important than the frequency. Therefore if you're grabbing multiple freebies, after the first couple of applications, spread others out every few months. Other factors that count include total debts, repayment history and income.
Cancel old unused cards
Once you've decided you're not going to use a card any more, ensure you cancel it. That means actually calling up the card company and requesting the account is closed, not just cutting the card up. This is because having high available credit can diminish your credit score, not just the amount of outstanding debt.
Is it worth grabbing freebies?
I wouldn't worry unduly about the credit score impact, providing you pick applications wisely and never bag a freebie just before needing credit elsewhere. This includes applying for a new contract mobile phone, car or home insurance, as well as loans, mortgages or credit cards for borrowing.
Yet, if you're happy with your current stock of cards, or never borrow, there's no harm going for additional freebies. If you need new credit, then choosing a freebie card that also offers decent borrowing terms is sensible and easily do-able.
The "Is it worth it?" rule of thumb
As a rule of thumb, always ask yourself: “If I'm only going to be allowed a limited number of credit cards, is what I'm applying for important enough to use a card up for?”0 -

Thanks again guys. Will have a good read through it all when i've had my tea. I still live with my parents, so don't have any mortgage or anything and don't see that i'll need a loan in the immediate future, so might give a couple a go and see how i get on and maybe a few more down the line somewhere
Think i applied for my credit report before and it was fine then. Might do that again too so that i can check and get more cashback while i'm at it :T0 -
