DFS Insurance

Hi
I am wondering if anyone has come across the same problem as me.
About 2 years ago, I purchased a sofa from DFS and whilst I was there the sales guy told me about an insurance policy they had. He said that the policy would cover my sofa if anything should happen to it. At the time of the sale there was myself, the sales guy and my mum.
I have today contacted them to tell them about the damage to the frame of my sofa only to be told that the policy only covered any damage to the fabric/leather.
To say that I am devastated is an understatement.
Has anyone else had any similar problems and if so, can you let me know where else I can take my complaint?
I have asked my mum about her recollection of the sale and she said that the guy definitely did say that if anything happened to the sofa I would be covered.
I hope I have posted on the right page!!
Thanks in advance

Does the policy wording back up them or you?
If it is worded in your favour, then claim from the insurer (not the shop) and if they deny the claim then follow their appeals/complaints procedure.0 -
I think it does mention in the small print that it doesnt cover the framework but the guy specifically stated that it would cover ANY damage. I didnt really read the small print to be honest though.0

When I got mine I was told I would be covered if anything happened to the covers, including accidential damage, but not the frame.0

How did the frame get damaged? was it accidental damage or has it simply broke? All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

With fair wear and tear a sofa should last more than 2 years. That's your line of attack, forget the insurance - it makes money for the sales staff. Consumer direct will have more information, but be prepared for a fight0
