Hi,
I have been given a printer by work for free, the trouble is it is ENORMOUS!! It is a business sized one... HP officejet L7590...
It has network capabilities, but can only be connected via ethernet. Is it possible to make it wireless by getting some kind of adaptor?? It is so enormous, I am never going to be able to get it near my modem/router...
Thanks for any help!!

ONLY by ethernet.... Hmmm.
Are you quite sure matey?
Unless it's a pretty old model, it should have USB2.0 which you can connect to a USB/Wireless connector or an Apple Airport for example.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

According to the review I found, that HP also has a USB2 connector. You could hook it up by ethernet to a wireless print server, but doubt if that would be cost effective. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Hi all, Thank for the advice so far, tho not sure I quite understood it, not sure if my original post explained the situation:
The printer is provided for free by my work and is enormous and doesn't fit next to my computer/desk, and in my old house I had it next to the router, connected to the home network via an ethernet cable into my router. This way I could store it where it fit, and not worry about the computer being attached to my work laptop as I could print wirelessly via the wireless network in my house. When I said "it can only connect via ethernet" I meant to the network, I can still connect to the printer via a USB cable, but this is not what I want to do.
I have now moved house, and now the router will have to be in the kitchen or the very small hallway, and so I will not be able to fit this printer next to it, to connect it to the network via ethernet.
My question really was, if I get some kind of wireless adaptor, will I be able to still have this printer as part of my wireless network, even if I can't have it close to my router, so I can still print from any computer anywhere in the house? In other words, can I still connect it to my wireless network if I cannot directly connect it to my router? I wasn't sure whether this was what you meant when you mentioned the USB? I am a bit of a girl about these things, and not sure what gadgets are available...
It is a good printer, and I would like to keep it, as the kind of wireless printer I can afford would not be of a similar standard...
Thanks again for your help...0 -
If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to connect it to your computer and then share it over a wireless network in your house. As far as I'm aware, Windows 7 has made this very easy, but I'm sure it can still be done in earlier versions.Northern Ireland club member No 382 :j0

As already advised, you can connect it to a network using a wireless print server. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

like these.... http://www.ebuyer.com/search?sort=pricelow&q=wireless%2Bprint%2Bserver&limit=10&page=1
that or get a long ethernet cable to put it in a better place....0 -
Thanks all, yes it looks like a wireless print server won't be cheap, although as the printer and all of my print cartridges will be free if I continue to use it, it may be a small price to pay.
Thanks for your advice, and sorry it took me a while to understand what your replies meant, can be a bit of a dumb blonde sometimes!0
