Someone's got it on eBay for £14.99
Thanks, but it's on vinyl and I don't have a record player. I found a FLAC copy on Mindawn anyway, and have burnt this to disc.I was under the impression that it was NOT illegal to rip/copy a CD that you own into different formats...
Alas, ignorance is not a defence in the eyes of the law.if you do a mix [STRIKE]tape[/STRIKE] CD for a mate using your music collection then that is when the copyright has been infringed as your mate hasn't paid for that music and you've just distributed it to him (see point 3 above).
But giving a CDR to your friend wouldn't be "publicly displaying" nor "in the course of a business" (as point 3 suggests)!?
And, it's okay to make copies so long as it doesn't have "a noticeable effect" on the copyright-holders business?! So, if the copyright-holder doesn't notice it's okay to rip them off? And it would definitely be okay to give away copies to people who wouldn't otherwise buy the CD, since that definitely wouldn't have a noticeable effect on business..?! I think not!0 -
Buy tons of stuff via I-Tunes but also download a lot of stuff from Limewire that is only available on US I-tunes. If they let me buy it I would happily do so but they wont so illegal it is then.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0

Problem with the choices, I rarely pay for a download, but the many downloads not paid for are totally legal, plenty out there if you don't want Radio 1 fodder, surely being intelligent music lovers, you won't.
When the suppliers of downloads start charging a price that reflects their drastically reduced distribution costs, then I will start buying from them. The big labels are trying desperately to hang on to a fundamentally dishonest and outdated business model that benefits nobody but themselves, certainly not the majority of performers or the consumer, aided and abetted by a government that has been cowed by big industry again.Take your time, son.0 -
I always buy my tracks on-line and usually from tesco.com. So much cheaper than buying them in the shop as I'm not paying for packaging etc.Pay anything from 29p to 89p per track and got Susan Boyles Album for £3.97. Never share the music I've bought either, so I don't think I have a problem with copyright infringemet.:j I'm not supposed to be normal, I'm supposed to be me:j:dance: Quidco cash back since May 2010 ~ more than £83.13
Must remember to use it more, but every little helps0 -
I pay for my downloads, mostly from the 60's these are only single tracks. Never have downloaded a full album I think I would buy the CD album.0

Most of my downloads are legal - although I do admit using other sources for tracks not available in the UK. While we are at it, how is it fair that we in the UK pay far more than others for songs on iTunes??
I do admit to downloading Cheryl Cole's album an thank God - deleted it straight away what an awful singer - that was money I'd never get back if I bought it legally!0 -

I think this helps to back up my earlier post!
I unfortunately saw her perform, supposedly "live" on the x-factor and it was excruciating. :rotfl:0 -
I always download legally. Am a firm believer that if someone has spent time to create something you like, the least you can do is pay for it. Also, I DJ and buy legal downloads from an american website. They have a great idea and digitally watermark the download, so if it's offered up via a site like Limewire, they can immediately see who purchased said MP3 and close the account down0

I'm surprised there are so many sites offering downloads on a pay-per-track or pay-per-album basis. A subscription based service is the way of the future, where a user can download as many tracks as they like - a la Napster (but cheaper).
After all, how many of us still pay per-minute for phone calls?0
