Try not to worry. Like the operator told you you aren't liable for any fraudulent use.

This happened to me a few years ago with my Mint card. I had never ever used it (only got it for BT's but the limit was so small I didn't bother) but one day got a call from them querying some purchases. I told them I'd never used it but someone had to buy train tickets and some other stuff. Apparently they just keep guessing numbers and stuff until they get it right!

Thanks southernscouser, i can understand them just guessing the numbers and so on but how do they get addresses and phone numbers?
Ive been on the Bet Fair site tonight to see what info they ask for when you join and they also ask for D.O.B. How would people find that out about me?
Also something else i thought of, what would be the point of using someone elses credit card for a betting site as if they were to win big they wouldnt be able to get at the money would they?

Well my main concern about my Mint card was, OK they have guessed the card number, expiry and issue dates BUT they have also done it with my name! Mint couldn't really answer my question! My suspicions are that you get criminals on the inside selling this information! :think:

Where do you look for this type of info and what search terms do you put in? Do you just put your name in Google? Im now going to try!
Other people have commented that they think you may get criminals on the inside dealing with peoples info and passing it on.

It's on directory websites. Clearly companies that 'promise' not to pass on your details aren't as honest as they make out! :mad:

Well I know for a fact that their are moles in almost every organisation going. You just have to know the right people and pay the right many and you can have access to whatever information you want! :rolleyes:

Have just discovered through this that im on a database of 1987 along with others from my school the year we left. Hope that makes sense as it sounds a little confusing but its getting late. Amazing what you can find. I will be trying this out again. Thanks.
