Hi All,
I want to buy something for my wife from our son who is 5 months old. As it is our first Christmas as a new family I wanted to do something special that she would realy like. I don't want to spend a lot as I am already buying her a digital camera from me. If anybody has got any suggestions or ideas I would be extremely grateful.
thanks
Chris

I always think that these are a lovely idea:

I think you can get keyrings and other things as well.. have put the above link just as an example (I notice on the listing that it says cannot be guaranteed before christmas... they send you a kit out to take the print and then you send it back, then they make the necklace).
You may be able to find someone who does them locally in your area (they may come out and take the print).. I remember seeing someone doing them at a local show.
Failing that, a nice picture frame 'I love my mummy' with a nice photgraph??

Could you get her a very nice ornament for the Christmas Tree? She can then bring this out every year and it is always as old as the child!
I have a Christmas ornament from my daughter's first Christmas -it's 42 years old!0 -

What about putting your babys handprint into plaster cast.

An eternity ring is traditional following the birth of your first child....this might be more than you'd like to spend maybe but would be something she'd keep forever.0

A piece of paper, some paint, do some baby handprints and footprints. When they're dry, write a message or baby's name and laminate. You could do a set, like placemats. It's thoughtful, really involves the baby, and something the baby will like to see as he gets bigger. Make it a family tradition - you could do one every year until he is a teenager and his feet smell too much!
Even better, set up a video camera so she can see exactly how difficult it was and how much mess you made putting a five month old baby's feet and hands in paint!0 -
Thanks to you all, this has given me a great starting point. I like the idea of an eternity ring and I didn't know it was traditional after the birth of a baby. I will see if I can stretch my budget to buy her one.
thanks once again!!0 -
