You go back to fortnightly sign-on.
  • thanks a lot book, i appreciate the info

do you know if it's any different or is it just the same fortnightly as it before the weekly signing?

also do you know, does the jobcentre close over christmas?

It depends on your sign-on day.

They close on public holidays throughout Christmas (i.e. Christmas day, Boxing day, new years day). I would contact your local Job Centre just to be absolutely sure.

I think the weekly sign-on's are the same as the fornightly ones. Just show your job log, they look and initial it, and authorise the payment.

By the way, I have my 13 week review soon, then after that start the 6 weekly sign-on. Did you find the review useful? I know about the 6 weekly sign-on, as the JC said so.

yes the weekly sign ons are the same as the fortnightly sign ons except you see a different person and it can take a few more minutes

i was wondering if you knew if after the 6 weekly sign ons when it goes back to fortnightly if it is any different from the original fortnightly sign ons or exactly the same?

the 13 week review was fine, they just talk to you about what you do and how you can change it for the better, they also change the conditions of your agreement.

the fortnightly sign ons will be exactly the same as before, i think the changes in your agreement still apply, which is that they expect you to look for more jobs per week for you log book.

the weekly sign ons are not really helpful to be honest, all that happens is the person you speak to takes you through a list of jobs on the system, which are the same as on the job search machines. they do talk to you a little more but other than that its the same thing.

they make out the reviews/interviews to be a big thing to scare you a little but its nothing. as long as you are looking for enough jobs each week they dont do or say anything.

as for the holiday period, they will be closed on 25th friday through to 28th monday, so if you sign on friday or monday you will miss your app.

then i think they are closed on new years only the following week.
  • thanks ash
  • Hi

I went for a stage 2 interview a few weeks ago and they said they wanted to see me on the 6th Jan which is in about 6 weeks time. I just assumed that they still want me to sign on every fortnight I never thought it would go to 6 weeks is this for definate ?

if you are due to sign in the period from 24th december to 1st january inclusive i would expect them to let you know the next time you sign on that you will not have to sign on then. i suspect signing on outside of that period will be as normal. i'm due to sign on the 23rd, i am hoping i get told on wednesday that i dont have to but i suspect i will have to sign on the 23rd. any payment that would be due during the bank holidays or even within 2 or 3 days after will most likely get paid into your account early. they will give you info about this along with any info regarding when you have to sign on.

one likely plus is we are likely to be in and out very quickly as i cant see them hassling us as much as normal. however it depends on how much common sense the person signing us has.
