Will I receive family tax credits?

Hi
I hope someone can help me here as I am not sure how the whole thing works. My girlfriend is at university for the next 12 months studying to be a teacher. I work full time and earn £27k a year.
Do you think I would be able to claim family tax credits or receive any help towards nursery?
Thanks.

Do you have children?
If so you should already be getting child tax credits0 -
Yes I have a two year old child but do not get any tax credits as I was told we earn to much, that was based on last year. However this year my girlfriend is now at Uni.0

Apply again then if your income is lower.0

Go to www.entitledto.co.uk and put in all of your details, you should get something if only the basic tax credits for your child.
It is worth looking at the Uni to see if they run a creche too, for some courses there is subsidised child care.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -
To get help with childcare you both need to be working at least 16 hours per week.

I thought this until recently but only one person in the couple needs to be working for 16 hours per week.
OP, don't forget to put all your GF's income into the calculation, including her student loan.0 -

Qualifying for tax credits
If you've recently found work or you're returning to work after being on state benefits, you may be able to get Working Tax Credit. To claim you must normally be over the age of 25 and work at least 30 hours a week. But you only need to work 16 hours or more a week if you or your partner:- are aged at least 16 and are responsible for a child or young person
- are aged at least 16 and you qualify for an extra payment of tax credits because you're disabled
- are over 50 and going back to work after being on benefit for at least six months

If you have children- If you work and pay for childcare, you may be able to get up to 80 per cent of your childcare costs in tax credits. Usually you and your partner (if you have one) have to work for at least 16 hours a week to qualify.
- If you have children, you may also qualify for Child Tax Credit. You do not have to be working to claim.
