Has anyone got a Hi sleeper bed - wobbly question?

We bought my daughter the Hi sleeper bed with desk and futon from Argos, just over £300. Put it up according to instructions but when she's climbing the ladder and settling down into bed it is pretty wobbly.

Anyone else got a Hi sleeper, is this something you just need to be careful of or is it just a problem with ours?

thanks.

Think its the beds in general. My daughter had one until the summer when we got her a day bed from Ikea. I hated standing on the ladder to put the sheets on the mattress as it felt like it was going to pull over.

My son also has a different type of hi sleeper and it drives me insane. Every time he climbs into bed it squeaks, when he turns over it sounds like he is going to go through the base. We have tightened all the bolts until they wont go anymore and it makes no odds, even made sure the floor was level.

  • We've had exactly the same problem with our daughter's, she had the type that has a desk but next to it nothing, what we found was that a strudy chest of drawers or one of those pull out sofa beds helps keep it sturdy.
Hope my vauge reply helps :)

Hi, I bought one for my son and had the same problem. I ended up attaching it to the wall with brackets but I guess it depends on whether it's wooden or not.

My daughter had a metal one for years and dont recall it ever wobbling. Thinking about it though it was the type that was bigger at the bottom (as it had a settee on the bottom that pulled out to a double bed) so that could explain why it was more stable IYSWIM.

My son has a jaybe hi sleeper with double bed at the bottom and although very solid parts and construction it still has movement... and now he doesn't like sleeping in it, not saying its swaying but it does feel wobbly, but do think its the norm with them as my neice had one.

We are now in the process of selling it on ebay
  • i got one second hand from a friend, originally from argos i'm pretty sure and it is solid as a rock!
i'd ring them and tell them about your wobble...
  • We have two for each of our sons and neither wobble. One has a wardrope and corner desk. The other a corner desk and futon. They do squeak a bit mind but no wobble.
Both my sons are around 6 feet tall and don't have any problems with wobble!

It sounds like the one we bought for your daughter...we sold it on eBay six weeks later because the constant squeaking kept us awake.
  • That`s funny, we have 3 of the high sleepers. DOn`t know the tipe as bought second hand £30 each. They all are very sturdy, although when I climb up ( I`m not the lightest, hmm) then it moves obviously, but woun`t turn over. It doesn`t wobble or sqeek. One of them has a bit of paper under the ladder because the floor is not very even.
Perhaps checking the parts and bushing them about a bit. I know we had to use the hammer for one of them to put them together, but then they are second hand and not £300.

Another one here with a wobble! We,ve got the metal bed the op described and it squeaks like mad and does have quite a wobble whenever dd turns over! We've had it about 4 years and are used to it by now!!!! Wish I'd have know how hard it is to change the bedding before we bought it but dd loves it!
