Toots hope your flooring arrives soon
De - Happy Birthday for yesterday. I'd love married tax allowance. My earnings are not enough to use my allowance so it would be great if some of it could be offset again DH's earnings. I think it would help Mum's stay at home and bring up kids (especially under school age kids) if their hubbies could use their tax allowance.
Had a lovely afternoon with friends, lit the fire before they came so living room is all welcoming and kids are in their now.
DS1 has made a fab Christmas log at school which is delicious.
Off to unpack the meat and think about starting dinner. The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Tesco shop done.. £180 lighter in the purse dept.. but I filled the freezer with reduced fresh meat.. steak for OH (was getting more but it was looking a bit green sheeny.. bleurgh!) loads of big packs of mince, pork steaks, sausages, gammon, pork pies, mini pasties = full freezer and other than a large gobbler-gobbler my christmas meat is sorted
I do need loads of veggies etc though.. I'll get a sack of spuds.. should last a while.
jelly babies were my grans favourite and OH is sat next to me scarfing a big bag full... *wail* .. I am holding myself together rather well I think!!
Moomin gone for a sleepover at her friends tonight, DS's 2 and 3 and DD's 2 & 3 are off to the church christmas dinner tonight so just 4 for feeding.... Might treat them to chippy.. can't really afford it but it is Tiddles favourite and I don't get her to myself very often.. DD1 will be here too but we barely see her... and we got cream cakes for afters.. NYOMNYOMNYOM
Ideas for christmas party.. DS3 wants to take.. croissants!! .. breakfast food.. silly boy.. do you think little chocolate muffins would suffice? I know technically they are breakfast food too but it would qualify as cake then surely?.. apparently it has to 'bought' rather than baked.. so they know what is in it they said.. surely you know better what is in a home made cake than a shop bought one??? Anyway, You can take home made stuff for the school fairs but not for the parties.. is there ANY logic behind this at all?? Box of 'whatever Lidl have cheap' coming up!
Elfis (our christmas gnome) brought some bells from Santa today.. so he can listen in on the children being naughty at bed time.. because the christmas fairies that have been flying around listening at widnows heard them being very naughty.. Let's see if this works!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Pigpen - big hugs to you even though you'll probably throw a mule at me!:rotfl:
I've just had a lovely afternoon with two groups of friends who both bought me a birthday cake and gave me vouchers, wine and flowers. I wasn't expecting that at all:o. Then, I got home and a friend I was at school with had sent me a CD of music we used to listen to.....blast from the past! It was lovely. So, boogie-ing and doing a little bit of s&s then off to parents.
It's freeeeeezzzzing here!

Also
Went to LIDL for day to day stuff - lots of art things in there this week. Plus a packet of ready prepared cheese fondue - calorie attack! This shall be an Xmas treat.
Defrosted freezer.
Washed shelves in fridge - have a lovely Bosch easy access fridge - pure genius, as no bending over and rummaging around at the back in the spilt milk dripping down over everything, just pull out drawers and bung in the dishwasher.
Arranged to meet my TM in town next week to collect last year's Xmas presents for DDs. By the sounds of it, she's dipped into the cash gift from my brother (it's a third of its usual amount per child) and given their other presents to my niece's precious perfect posh parading princesses [sigh], She has denied all knowledge of receiving any presents for me from the others. So those have gone the way of the others - given to someone else. Mind you, after a year, cash is about the only thing that wouldn't deteriorate being left in a dust and dirt filled hovel for a year.
Finally for the day, when doing yet another load of washing (I insist on clean clothes every day, as a reaction to the TM's ideas of leaving me in the same clothes for days on end as a kid) I was really annoyed to find DD1's been stinking out her little sister's new top with BO.
I don't understand why the smell is so bad - it's not like anyone else's smell, it's really sour and acrid, even if she has showered. I actually have a less strong reaction to the cat tray, it's that bad. And it doesn't come out with bio soap, febreze or stardrops, it will contaminate the rest of the wash if I don't get it out the machine the instant it stops spinning.
How on earth do I get the stench out?I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Well, cards posted (still got the 'neighbour' ones to do)0 -
Just surfacing for air. I have skimmed enough to know that de.natam needs a Happy Birthday for yesterday.
Worst of my work stuff is over -just the final thankyou, goodbye and here is a big fat cheque to do now and then I can breathe again.
Dusty are you about early Monday afternoon?
House is really very grim. I need to do several HHCs starting with one at 4.15 when I have finished my cup of tea.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -

Thank you!
She's come back from school in a much better mood than when she went and is looking forward to McDonalds for tea - such a rare occurrence that we can still use it as a treat!
Not much flying going on here....but need to get the place in some kind of order before Sunday when the grandparents, aunts and uncles come for day three of DDs birthday celebrations... Just a slice of cake and cup of tea I said...now they're all expecting sandwiches and sausage rolls...
Honestly, the Chinese whisper effect in this family is beyond a joke....
Had a bit of a 'moment' earlier, so OH suggested he make the sandwiches on Sunday  They'll definitely be unique, that's all I'm saying.
Christmas tree is up though and I'm in the middle of doing paper chains. DS has 'helped' me by getting all the ironing out of the basket. But...the best thing is, he tried to pull himself up to standing!!! Won't be long now and he'll be behind me all the time!
Anyway, I'm off for now.
See you later

De.natam - you should of told us it was your birthday yesterday!! Here's a belated cake and drinky poo for you :bdaycake:
About married tax allowance; don't see that it would make much difference with lots of people co-habiting nowadays. Don't think (unless it was a decent amount of allowance) that it would make couples get married just so they could get it. As Dusty said it may help those married parents where mum wants to stay at home or rather than work full time go part time. Hope that helps a little.
LL - hope you've had that phone call and it's the news you want x
Toots - I agree it's blooming freezing here too. Hope the carpet turns up soon.
Another hour and a bit to go at work, am bored rigid and now in a CBA mood to try and look for things to do!
Having family night in tonight with take aways so that will be nice (if there's no bickering between the DD's!). DS goes back to Germany on Monday, but back again the 22nd. Yippee
