I put my 4 berth caravan with huge awning on my local freecycle (dry and clean but rather antiquated) and had about 80 requests for it, was a lovely bargain for the person I selected.
I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

I got my TV stand on our local freecycle, cracking once it had a good wipe over :)
Still looking for a bed though!

    I've been Money Tipped!
Have pianos come up on ours every 6 months or so. I always think how generous those people are - then I think of the removal side and how it would solve a problem on their part!

  • I`ve had a few things from Freecycle recently a nice big TV,(I dropped and broke ours moving it).
I`ve also given quite a few things away too,
A skimboard to a little boy who was going on holiday,he came with his mum and was ever so pleased.
A brand new diabetes monitor I gave away to a lovely old chap.
I`m having a good sort out this week so no doubt I`ll be listing more stuff to give away

I was very surprised when I got an answer to a want I posted for an espresso machine. A lady contacted me to see if I wanted her (very expensive) hardly used model. I was so thrilled. We've given a lot away in the past but that's the only thing I've received.

I too don't logon that much as it's flooded with wants rather than balanced with offers and when there are some, it's the same faithfuls. Shame really.

I'm always giving away furniture etc on Freecycle!

We've only ever had one thing ourselves form Freecycle & that was a 12ft fibreglass canoe. My daughter was so chuffed with it & the person giving it away was so lovely.

Moving a piano is a real hassle and very expensive! When we were clearing out my late aunts house earlier this year we phoned around every local school, community centre, church, charity etc etc to ask if they wanted her piano but they all declined because of the expense of moving it. It got taken away by the clearers in the end and no doubt sold off for a fortune.

Sadly that's one of the downsides of Freecycle/Freegle, it's fab for getting rid of things which would be otherwise difficult to get shot of, but trying to get anything which is offered (for me anyway) is impossible. That's why I think people resort to putting Wanteds up, as it tends to bypass the lottery. I haven't done that yet though.

We have had a lot of offers of electricals on our Freecycle group and it has turned out to be scammers.

My friend had the best Freecycle haul ever. Someone was advertising a sleigh bed and her bed was on it's last legs. When she got to the guy's house she discovered that the bed was a very expensive, beautifully crafted bed. The guy turned out to be a jolly millionaire who was emigrating at the end of the week and hadn't gotten around to selling his furniture. He told my friend she could take any furniture that she liked if she could take it a.s.a.p. Luckily her brother had a van. She now reckons the contents of her house are worth more than the house itself!
