The chances are that the website is using a bit of javascript to stop you doing this. With FireFox you can download addons such as noscript to disable javascript. Easiest option with IE would be to save the entire page from the browser file menu and pull ot the image from the associated folder.

What is the URL of the website?

As above. Try some other websites, chances are it this this particular website rather than your laptop

Oh dear. Well I just tried it on Amazon and it worked on my laptop (I'm on firefox).

I'm sorry - I'm not techie enough to be able to help. But if it is a new lappy, you may have access to a free 30 day set-up help line, or something like that.

When I got my samsung netbook it would not connect to the wireless internet, no matter what I did. I phoned samsung and the very nice techie chap talked me through it and had me up and running in no time.

  • good thinking lazy...I will try that
  • The reason websites try to block people from copying images, is that copyright exists on the image and you have no rights to copy the image without the copyright holders permission.

That might be true, but it has no relevance to the OP's question as others on here can do what the OP can't.

I have Opera as backup mainly for sites like this as it seems to let you do what you like.

As to the copyright, the point of putting pictures on a website are for people to look at! often I need to copy an image into an editor and lighten it to bring out the detail and zoom in, often before buying whatever it is. Trying to block this is stupid as even in Internet Explorer its simple (but annoying) to retrieve images from the cache if need be.

I don't think you mentioned the browser concerned (I was up late so sorry if I missd it?)

I would try firefox, if possible the portable version that you can run from a datastick ...to make sure if it's windows or the browser doing this.

There is no way that anyone can really hep without proper info, and also there is no way it can't be fixed ...it's nothing huge.

LazyDaisy has a really good point though, you're paying for full support so why not use it and save yourself some hassle you didn't pay for? Unless it's a premium rate call jobbie...then obviously not.

There is a way to work round this problem if it's important and urgent.
Right click the image and find it's name in "properties" ..then open a new window and type or copy paste that image url into the browser address bar. You may need to actuay search the source code by typing view-source:http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/ (this page as an example only, you use the one with the image) and search for the image url there. "find" in firefox helps there.

Opera also has a nice easy cache to find and fish out any pics or content you have viewed.
