AOL Wireless router question

Hi,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post so please bear with me.
I have been an AOL Customer for the last 5 years or so and i just finished my 18 month contract for AOL broadband and well still ontinuing on it but my wireless router now is not working.
Will AOL replace it for free? If not as i dont want to buy a new one (too costly for me right now)....what should i do?
Should i switch providers to get a free router (but i do like aol as i had no problems with the internet for years so fight for a new router)
Or would this work ...cancel AOL - And re-join them the following month - wuld they give me a new router then for being a 'new customer'.
Thanks in advance.

Ask them for a replacement router in order to continue your business.
If not, there are thousand of adequate wireless routers on eBay for £10 or £15, something like a Netgear DG834G will be fine.
Cancelling your service will incur a BT broadband disconnection charge of around £25-more than the cost of the router-and you'd have no service for a month. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

I called the up just to ask about a replacement and they said they are only under warranty for 12 months? So i dont get one?
So if i cancelled - i would have to pay for that even if my 18 month contract is over?
I know i dont want no internet but yeah i dont have an ebay account
Thanks anyways.0 -
You are not entitled to a free replacement if it's out of warranty. But if you remind them that you are OOC and what can they offer you to retain your business?...you just have to ask nicely-not demand it.
If you have a BT line and you cancel your broadband (rather than migrate it using a MAC) then yes you will pay a disconnection charge which OpenReach recoup from AOL.
Open an eBay account? Car boot sale?No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Macman, I did not mean to thank you but you are welcome. In fact, I just wanted to say that paying BT separately for the landline is a good way to go. I am with AOL but only for the Internet. They seem to have problems at the moment. Someone has reported a huge phishing attack at the weekend which may be affecting AOL and other servers.0
