this is i presume what you have had for a short while updated for free over 2009? the shop bought disc may not be this upto date version. that is why when you install it you may then have to install version 9.0.0.736 over it from the link on the other thread i mentioned.

As I've already got the latest version up and running surely I wouldn't have to install the new disc, but just update the licence or something and carry on as normal with a further 12 months?

you can always give it a try before you do anything else.

Are you sure you have to"uninstall & start from scratch"?

Well I suppose I could just wait for the security suite to warn me to 'click here to upgrade' but I don't fancy paying whatever silly fee they think they can charge me and then pay again for the other two computers. No, uninstall and buy a 3 pack again using HotUKDeals :)

Oh I wouldn't just install over the old one either incase it caused problems, and best to use a special removal tool too, think Kaspersky have one for removing their products, can't remember :)

I've checked on the KIS website and it seems all you have to do is purchase KIS 2010 from on-line or in-store (that is from a reputable place!!) insert your licence number into "merge/delete" without deleting your original licence number( to retain any remaining days )and another 12 months will be added to your licence. Apparently if you do this more than 14 days before the old licence expires you will lose any remaining days on the old licence. (Similar to how an MOT works) So if you shop around you should be able to get KIS2010 for under £20! Basically you only pay for the licence number if KIS2010 is already installed and the cd is not needed.

I think that it's the other way around onejontwoo - if you have less than 14 days left on your old licence, you will lose them. If you have more then they will run concurrently.

The Merge facility seems to have been dropped in KIS2010 although the above achieves the same result.

The bottom line is get the cheapest and renew without uninstalling etc.
