Kaspersky licence renewal

When my KIS licence is up for renewal (in about 2 months) if I go through the easy option of renewing the license through the KIS website it would cost in the region of £35-40. If I purchased KIS 2010 from PC world it currently retails at £18.99. The question is as I am now on the latest updated version 2010, would I have to uninstall and reinstall the purchased KIS 2010, or simply insert the new license number, and if so, how and am I allowed to do this by KIS? If the latter is the case I guess I wouldn't need the purchased disc?

you should be able to enter the licence code on the existing version install on your computer (under the license option in the KIS control panel)

    Hi Onejontwo
My licence is up early next year too (on 2 desktops & a netbook). I paid less than your £19 for my 3 user licence though so do shop around. There's no way I'd go through KIS to upgrade so I'll do what I did last year - Uninstall & start from scratch. Really the only choice...unless there's a better security suite out there...I'm sure there is too :)

when you have bought it and installed it you may well need to then install the newer version 9.0.0.736 over it from their site for free. check out post number 1575 on the what security do you use thread, see link below. first of all you want to right click on the kaspersky icon and click on about to see what current version you have installed.

Are you sure you have to"uninstall & start from scratch"?

i'm not sure about that either but i dont think it really makes alot of difference time wise. i decided not to complicate things and waited until 2009 had ran out before i bought 2010 and installed it after of course deleting 2009. after the good advise on the thread i mentioned i installed version 9.0.0.736 over the old version 9.0.0.459 today.

this is i presume what you have had for a short while updated for free over 2009? the shop bought disc may not be this upto date version. that is why when you install it you may then have to install version 9.0.0.736 over it from the link on the other thread i mentioned.

I installed version 2010 over 2009(I now know this wasn't the best way to do it but I just followed the support prompts)and now everything is running A1 after installing patches a&b.
If I can just insert a code or number rather than uninstalling/installing and risk messing things up, this would make things a lot easier.
