Sounds a bit like a fuel problem, dirt stopping the fuel from coming through.
Have you been driving with the tank near empty ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Has the car ever sat undrove for a long period of time since it started happening? Also check your air filter for a blockages, something as simple as a leaf may be in there0

Do a service on it, change oil filter, oil, fuel filter, air filter, pollen filter, spark plugs and see if it has been cured
if not it could be your MAF sensor, crank shaft sensor or coil pack, but as you have mention you have a spanner light on, I would tech 2 it and see what faults come up0 -
Sounds like an electrical fault of some sort perhaps.
Does the car have an engine?Toffs laying into the less well off? Surely not!!

Standard service stuff will do frig all, sorryI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
They could have a bad spark plug thats not firing properly0

i would have a service done, plugs, oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, battery test? put an additave in the tanks to clean the injectors after this just to rule out a bit of dirt blocking one of them, then see how it goes, if problem still evident take it to a good independant to have a fault code read done,
there are so many possibilities to cause these symptoms:
map sensor.
maf meter (mass air flow ).
idle speed sensor.
throttle position sensor.
crank sensor.
cam sensor.
faulty injector(s).
coil pack .
spark plug(s).
fuel pump.
fuel non return valve.
fuel filter.
ECU (the cars brain).
could be any of or combination of them, may not be any, after service see how it fairs up.0 -

Firstly thank you to everyone who has replied.
To the guy who said - take it to a garage. Your right, this is exactly what I am going to do. The reason why I opened this thread was to get a rough idea about what the problem could be. That way, I can avoid the sharksters and their malarky.
I think I will go with the above recommendation. Get a full service done (as outlined in the first paragraph). Failing that, I will explore the other possibilities. Either way, I will come back and let you guys/gals know.
Thanks again!0 -
Just ordering some parts but cant seem to find a fuel filter for my car on eurocarparts.com website.
A couple of you have mentioned that the problem could be fuel related and I may need a replacement fuel filter. If my car doesn't have a fuel filter, what fuel related part should I consider replacing?

If you were not touching the accelerator, the car really shouldn't be lurching forward as though the accelerator was being depressed.
I don't think any of the suggestions above (with the possible exception of bad driver skills) would cause that sympton ... in fact I'm not sure what would unless you have a fly by wire throttle system on the vehicle.
Whatever the cause it sounds like an extremely dangerous situation that has developed with your car so get it repaired by the dealer asap. Don't accept it back until they can explain the cause of the fault and can demonstrate it has now definitely been rectified."Now to trolling as a concept. ....
