Help re due a cheque from Solicitor

Thanks to all who replied.
I chased it up and received a cheque yesterday in the post. However, the estate agents registration fee was deducted from the total as he couldn't trace us ever making that payment, even though we have a letter acknowledging it.
So back onto the phone on Monday about that. It is just never ending.0 -

Your completion statement should have said how much was being deducted for the estate agent fees. They cannot deduct more later. If you have not paid anything to the estate agent that is between them and you. It is not up to your solicitor to make up the difference from funds they are holding. Don't be fobbed off with the answer that you should get it back from the estate agent. This is your solicitor's mistake. They should have checked with you first before deducting anything else. In this case the Solicitor's firm have an estate agency side to the business with whom we advertised.(We thought it would make things easier) That actually makes it more shocking with the fact they cannot trace the registration fee payment.
I have the acknowledgement letter and cheque details so it should be sorted out.0
