Phones 4U/Orange problem

In Feb this year, we decided to get our dd a contract phone through Phones 4 U (online) and Orange. The phone is a LG KS360.

It had to be sent off for repair in September as the touch screen had broken and wouldn't respond to and touch (lol) Got the phone back 3 weeks later.

2 weeks ago, she kept trying to charge it, and nothing happened. We tried the normal charger, laptop charger and I bought a new one from ebay, nothing worked. Took the phone back to Phones 4U and they sent it away for repair again.

Went in yesterday, for them to tell us that a "pin" was missing from the (lost words, sorry) charging hole bit in the phone, and that this was obviously down to misuse and also that the phone was unrepairable. I'm not entirely sure how they can say misuse, when really, the only thing she has tried to do is charge the darn thing.

We are now stuck with another 8 months on contract (18m term total) and no phone for her. Phones 4U say it is not their problem as they have nothing to do with it, all down to Orange. We haven't yet spoken to Orange as we couldn't get through yesterday, will try again today.. but I just wanted a little advice to see if they *can* say that attempting to charge the phone is "misuse"

I really don't want to have to buy another phone so that we can see the contract out, but will if we absolutely have to, I suppose.

TIA for any help.

Is the phone covered by insurance?

Also, did the phone charge perfectly before it was sent away for repair to the touchscreen? If yes, inform P4U, and tell them that it was damaged by their repairer (considering it was them who repaired it the first time).

Hope this helps and you get it sorted out.

Typically, and in keeping with Sod's Law, we cancelled the insurance a month ago. We thought (probably wrongly tbh) that any real problems with the phone would be covered by the warranty.

Umm, it did charge perfectly well until it went away actually. Have just asked dd if it charged properly since she got it back, and she says no. That seems a little convenient to me though, I don't want to scam them (you know what I mean) but I would like a proper resolution to this. I will try mentioning that.

    Thanks for your help.
  • Try calling up the Phones 4 U customer services department and tell them it worked fine till it was sent away the first time, then after going away the second time they said it was miss use, which must have been caused by the repair centre they use.

    Their number is 0844 871 2231

They have always been patient and helpful when I call them!
