Utility Warehouse 40GB

So I got a letter today from Utility Warehouse saying that we'd surpassed our limit of 40 GB in October. Apparently we used 83 GB over our allowance, and so they're charging us almost £50 extra + VAT for that month.
They said that they cahrge £1.50 per GB over allowance, so firstly surely they should have charged us 83 x 1.50 = approx £125 not £50?
They also said that as a goodwill gesture to customers, they were going to cap the charge at £15 next month, £20 the month after, then £25, rising by £5 each month till it reached £50.
So that, and the fact that our internet usage in October wasn't significantly different to the months before, makes me think this 40GB limit is a new thing?
So has anyone else with UW got this letter? Is it a new thing, or is it possible theyve made a mistake?
and also does uploading count as part of your internet usage? e.g. on p2p applications, I upload alot as well as d'load, and so maybe that's why it's so high?!
Thanks in advacne

If you use p2p a lot then a 40GB allowance is nowhere near enough. Like an earlier poster said, another £5/mth will get you u/l broadband with UW. We went for the U/L from the start as my eldest son is at Uni and does a lot of his work online (plus also 4 seperate laptops/PCs are fed the same BB feed so it doesn't take a genus to work out that 40B just wouldn't be enough as we stream a lot of iplayer/youtube etc and you'd be surprised how bandwidth hungry that is).Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
