Hi

I have a Nokia N82 and had around 1,600 imagesof my little girl saved on my 4GB micro SD Card.

However tonight I have noticed that the phone is displaying that I have no images or videos and also that my SMS messages in my inbox and sent messages have disappeared?

Any ideas on if it's possible on getting my photos back? as it's so strange as to where they have gone?

Please help!

Mobiles get lost, stolen and damaged so if you can find them, do back them up somewhere else like a USB harddrive.

As to the images, have you tried to take the MicroSD card out and put it back in the phone again, maybe it is not recognising the card. You could also try taking it out and putting it into a MicroSD card reader that plugs into the PC to see if it is detected. I've yet to see a MicroSD card die.

Sadly, it is possible to format memory cards via the phone, and if someone has used the phone without knowing what they are doing they could have wiped it clean, and those photos wouldn't be recoverable without specialist recovery software - http://www.squidoo.com/formattedsdcard.
Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies

There are a few recovery programs out there that will attempt a repair if you put the card indo a adaptor then into your PC, then run the utility.

But as DC notes - it is plain silly NOT to have a backup for important pix like these.
  • I have previously used the below recovery utility on a memory card that had been accidentaly formatted and was able to recover a fair amount of stuff.
