Boots staff don't get a choice of sales stock first :S We have to wait until our lunch! Just wanted to make this clear lol, but we do get discount
No7 set or other boots brands for £15 normally.
With 50% sale we'd get it for £5.80 =D
In 75% sale it would be £2.90 =D
And non boots items normally £15 would be either £6.55 or £3.28
Maybe staff aren't supposed to get first shot at sale items, but people have reported waiting outside for the store to open on Boxing Day and seeing staff buying deals at the tills before doors open. I've also seen staff gathered round grabbing items for themselves while on duty when things are marked down. It may be against Boots policy, but it all comes down to management -- if a store has management that doesn't follow rules, and maybe encourages this action because they do it themselves, then you'll see staff making grabs in those stores (but probably not in others where management follows the rules). Which means it's hard to say which stores will have staff grabbing the bargains first, but it will probably happen in some places!0 -
note to self - write 1000 times - "I must not read the big threads on MSE" First I go on a hunt for hamsters I'd never heard of and now I MUST have a S&G OOTW (see - I can even do the initial thingy now!). I don't know what it is but I'm gonna get one if it kills me lol. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

I was not amused, as I recognised some of the items in their bags as things I would have liked the opportunity to purchase! There were none left when I reached the sale area as one of the first non-staff people entering the shop!0 -
l dont want to cause offense to anyone who has brought the fcuk bag, but this is just my personal view. went into town to see wot all the hype was about and they had loads just by the entrance on a stand!!! they look absolutely cheap to the core regardless of the contents the bag itself is just vile!!! l didnt like the look of it at all and it seemed like cheap tat. forget £45 l wouldnt pay £20 for it lolzzz
however the s & g hatbox looks very very nice indeed and am hoping to get my hands on one (roll on friday) im just thinking how im going to carry it through town with a pushchair...its rather BIG!!!
l asked the sa whether they had anymore hatboxes and she told me they had loads at teh back but due to space tehy couldnt put them all out....
Everyone's entitled to their opinion - like I said earlier, the FCUK bag (regardless of the contents) is the only thing I fancied from the Christmas gift range this year, so I'm glad it was an OOTW.

Last year I was waiting outside the store before it opened on the day the 75% off sale started. Imagine my surprise when some people walked out with large bags full of sale items! One young girl who came out explained that the store had opened an hour earlier for staff only.

I don't get this - not having a go at anyone and certainly not you Ilona personally - your post was just the nearest - but why is it so bad for Boots staff to get discount sale stuff? They have stroppy customers, mental Xmas pressie buyers to try and help, mad people shouting at them for no reason and just have to take it, it's not like they earn a fortune and sometimes have really pants shifts and things, so why not have a little perk of the job being you get first pick at sales? I would have thought it's the least they deserve after the madness of Xmas - and really, is anyone's life really going to alter for the worse because they didn't get that shimmery lipstick set that was reduced?
My brother (many many moons ago) used to work for M&S and they used to get reduced stuff every night just for staff, which was a bit naughty as they would try and damage things to go into it - it's not like the staff at Boots are doing that, just buying things that the company want shot of to try and recoup some money on them.Do not feed the trolls please.0 -
im debating to but the s&g online for next day delivery or risk it instore (slough)on the day on my lunch break. Want it for my mum, decisions decisions!0

Well at least the adrenalin rush of ordering your hatbox will make you pedal extra fast. I have to hope the little bird inside of mine doesn't pop it's clogs before I get through the checkout.
Oh and I reckon the sa's SHOULD get first pick of sale/ ootw.....not many perks to being a sa. But then my days as a Saturday girl were horrible for me, I'm not suited to retail! If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!0 -

There were lots of S&G boxes in my local boots, they were all stacked up in every corner you could see!! They are very large! I think they're preparing for the OOTW and probably have no room in the stockroom due to extra deliveries!0

I don't think there is anything wrong with staff getting sale items before everyone else - it's only fair because if they wait until the end of their shift, there would be nothing left! The staff also wake up early and give up their boxing day to work. Sometimes, they don't even have a choice of whether to work or not and they don't get paid extra even if it's boxing day - but they have to put up with the extra load of people and stress!
I work at next and we know what items are going to be on sale already and we're allowed to put away things for ourselves so that we can buy them on the sale day. If we wern't allowed to put things away, we would probably end up with nothing!0
