Boots OOTW 18/12/09

Have not got time to read back, but for anyone going near the Guildford branch they had loads upstairs downstairs on the stairs and in the window. Did not buy as got 1 yesterday in my local branch. There are obviously no Bootsters or MSE's about only saw 1 girl buying 1. Hope this helps someone

I read this thread at the about the OOTW when it was posted and didn't pay much attention as I have already finished my xmas shopping I happened to be in Boots yesterday morning, the store had just opened and was quiet apart from a number of people looking at these boxes. I went to have a look at the contents of the box and was thrown out the way at least three times!! Anyway the box itself looked lovely! Not much inside for such a huge box, but a really nice gift. I decided not to get one as no room in my bathroom for a box that big. When I went to the checkout I saw people with multiple trolleys full of them, the people in front of me had 12!! 2 trolleys piled high, the husband brought out a list... "I hope we have enough he said" the wife started going through the list (of what seemed like distant relatives), then her phone rang, get 2 more she called out, he went to get them, no 3 more she shouts after him!!
I cant imagine giving these boxes out to everyone in the family, even friends, we only usually spend about 10 quid each on one another. If I started giving these out they would be thinking I had won the lottery or something lol.

Don't be hasty...make sure you get the other one first!!!!

I'm sure it will be easy to cancel online, either that or just refuse delivery. Mine says dispatched for delivery on 22nd, but surely it hasn't let the warehouse yet?

If not couldn't you just ask a friend if they were interested in the extra one? It might do someone a favour with them selling out so fast.

I bought the last hatbox in the Peckham store this morning but the SA said that there were loads left in Greenwich.

I have not been there, so if you go and they have sold out, sorry.

You can't cancel an online order once its been placed but you can send it back or take it back to store for a refund.

None left in Newbury store or Salisbury Salisbury wont be getting anymore in either. Last time I stay up very late & get up early then dash into town on lunch (30 mins drive each way!) only to end up with no S&G
Still dont get how they sold out online when it was only up for a few hours & surely there can't be that many people online at that time for it to sell out?

I surely wouldn't cancel until I had the other one in hand, lol! And I have no one to give this to or know anyone who is dying to get one, so don't need an extra. Even if I thought about it as an extra gift for my sister, she lives overseas and no way am I mailing this overseas! Plus I already sent her a sizable check for a gift, as she honestly needs money more than stuff as she's having very hard financial times. Ah well, I'll mull it a bit more. Was so cold I was going to skip going out to eat for anniversary, but may change my mind -- and the restaurant is by boots! I think if I see them there we will just have to buy one, lol.

Mine came today, in the usual brown Boots box with a bit of scrunched up brown paper on top. fortunately the actual hatbox is really thick very sturdy card, so no damage or marking at all. :j
