Veho(VFS-001)Negative & Slide Scanner

I treated myself a couple of years ago to Veho neg & slide scanner and I've found it a nightmare:mad: to use. I've installed it twice and given up both times because it's so very, very slow to use. Has anyone else encountered the same problem? I've followed the instructions very carefully but it's made no difference. It wasn't cheap and it seems such a waste of money. Really keen to use it but have almost given up hope of it ever working properly. Does anyone out there use one and are you satisfied with it?

I bought a Veho slide and negative scanner a few months ago, and have found it reliable and easy to use, giving me results of good quality. I consider it good value for £66.99, and recommend it for home use. I'm not sure how fast you were expecting it to operate, given that you need to load the slides or negatives into a carrier before scanning. But once that has been done, the scanner works at the same speed as any other scanner I've used, although you need to scan them one at a time. For scanning lots of slides or negatives automatically you'll need a professional scanner, and that's going to cost a lot more.0

I am looking for something like this, can you tell me after it scans your slide or negative, does it leave the image on your PC as a photograph ready for printing or just as a transparency, and dos it come with any software to alter size, quality etc...
Any advice welcome from anyone having used this model, or any other naegative/slide scanner.
My objective is to view and print photos from various negatives and slides...Couponing....."every little hurts"

Its not just a slide scanner I'm looking for, i need to scan single 3x2 inch(or thereabouts) negatives as well.....so a flatbed may be better...but reading other forums, it appears the reproduction quality isnt too good, unless you spend hundreds.
Unless anyone can tell me different, and advise on a tested model.Couponing....."every little hurts"

It initially scans to an SD card that's inserted inside the Veho, just as you would insert one inside a digital camera. So you don't need to hook up to your computer to do the actual scanning. The images are saved as .JPG files, and you then upload them from the Veho's SD card onto your PC using your regular photo software, from which point they are available for further editing or printing. Incidentally, you could also upload them from the SD card using another card reader - say, if you were using the Veho in one place and your PC is in another. But the Veho itself has a facility to perform the upload from the SD card via a USB cable, just like a digital camera.
The photo editing software is not supplied with the Veho, but any free photo software, such as Irfanview or Digikam will work fine on your PC with .JPG files.0 -

It was so slow it put me off trying again. I paid around £97.00 approx 2 years ago. Thanks for your help and I'll have another attempt. I know it's not going to be a mega fast procedure & appreciate that but it really did take an age (around 30 minutes).
I'm not quite sure where the problem is but clearly something is wrong here. I find that each image takes only a few seconds to scan, just as it does in a flat bed scanner.
The procedure is first to load the slides or negatives into the slide rack, and then scan them one by one onto an SD card inside the Veho. For this you don't need the Veho to be connected to a PC. Then you upload each picture from the Veho's SD card onto the PC using a USB cable, just as you would upload from a digital camera's SD card. The image scans are in .JPG format. Finally you use your regular photo editing software to do any tidying up or other enhancement.0 -

Thanks for this, a comprehensive reply...however, looking again at the pre war negatives I have, they arent in 35mm format, so unless there is a Veho for larger single negatives, it looks as though i will need a flatbed, Ive found an HP that does negatives (HP Scanjet G2710), but it doesnt say it does anything bigger than 35mm........or would you assume it would do anything, up to the size of the flatbed....
Ive had a reply on another site, where the flat bed bought, was only able to scan negatives where the 35mm negative feed was, as that was the only area lit up for this pupose, can anyone verify this is the same for ALL flatbeds, or are there any where the whole flatbed is "negative friendly"Couponing....."every little hurts"

I also use a Canon CanoScan LiDE25 flatbed scanner, and this will scan larger negatives just fine. It will also scan 35mm, but you do need to remove any transparencies from their mounts because they need to be in direct contact with the scanner plate.0
