Hi I am wanting to upgrade my tv and get Freesat and need some advice what to do.
I have moved to a block of flats and have a point coming in from a dish, some residents have Sky, and I also have a tv aerial point, both cables running high quality cable.
I want to be able to record from Freesat whilst watching another channel and have been told that I need two cables coming from the dish. I would be able to get another cable from the dish running outside the building with the current cable but once it comes into my flat, the I second cable would then be unslightly and running across the floor as tv not near point. Could I use the cable that goes into my aerial point which is next to the other point and connect this to a new cable coming through the wall and this would solve the problem?
If I purchased a tv with Freesat built in ( as the tv I have been looking at comes with this and is a good price, free blu ray player included) and connected a freesat recorder, would the recorder over ride the freesat in the tv, as I have been told if you wanted to record from a built in tv option you have to be watching the program, you can't watch another channel.?
Also what does PVR mean noticed this on Freesat boxes?
Many thanks hope it makes sense, I'm getting confused by it all

Does the dish have the capability for more than one cable? ie. does it have a quad or bigger LNBWe all evolve - get on with it0

You can record one channel while watching another if the device has twin tuners. All PVR's (personal video recorders-basically a box with twin tuners and a hard drive) can do this, but you will need a twin feed from the LNB. Best one to go for by far is the Humax Foxsat HDR.
If you don't want PVR facilties, then you can just use a Freesat enabled TV connected direct to your single dish feed.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
You will probably find that the dish is connected to a communal system on a block of flats, so it is likely that you will not be able to add a second cable.

Thanks for the replies. I am told that the dish lnb has the capability to add another cable.
Someone has told me that a stacker/destacker would do away with have two cables. Is this a viable option?0 -

Thanks for that - what a great wee bit of kit. You learn something every day.
Obviously you would still need two cables to come from the dish and then this unit would feed your single, existing cable. We all evolve - get on with it0
